Does anyone else think the clutch biting point on the Stilo is pretty high? I'm still trying to find the balancing point between stalling the car (as I ususually do at least once per day) and riding the clutch.

I have no idea where the biting point on my clutch is :D

ive noticed that it's very high and its not sporty at all (its very very easy, like a feather).its wired when you first step in the car but afterwards its all about learning the vehicle.

to be honest in the beggining i kept stalling the car but after a couple months i got the hang of it and when i drive and old style clutch car it feels VERY ROUGH

Out of all the cars I've driven, I find my Stilo one of the easiest to balance when on hills! I'm a sod for not using my hand-brake, as my arm is lazier than my feet ;)

The clutch seems to bite in just the right place, although that may be because my leg length and seat position are in perfect harmony [)]

I still stall my car after having it for nearly a year. I sometimes find myself over-revving it to prevent it from happening. It isn't the easiest car to balance clutch/accelerator I have driven.

That's exactly what I fine Lead. I don't want to over rev it and burn out the clutch early but don't want to stall it either! I'm just finding hard to get the balance :I

i know this is a bit late coming but ive got exactly the same problem ,i was browsing this fault and this thread came up,as you already know we have very similar cars and very similar faults ,have you had any of them sorted yet

My clutch bites quite low. The first day I picked the car up from the dealer there was a spate of road accidents in the county so the traffic was fairly dense stop and start type of stuff. I manage to stall the car five times on the way home. Now after a nearly a year I still manage to stall it every other day, I don't seem to be able to hear or feel what the engine is doing. I have also noticed that first thing in the morning and first thing coming out of work in the evening I get some clutch judder. This only happens on the first couple of bites of the clutch the rest of the time it's ok. Has anybody else come across this?

I'd actually always thought that the Stilo is a rather difficult car to stall. Maybe in my case is more difficult to stall cause it's a diesel and maybe the six speed gear box has a different clutch?

I've given up on all the faults the garage just seem unable to fix them. It's going for its first MOT in a month and I'm dreading it! I'm going to put it in just before I hit the 3 years in case I can get any warranty claims if it fails. The latest is a horrible squeak/ groan from both back door staps. They've rusted so much as I don't use the back doors much and no amount of WD40 or spray on grease will cure it.

If I can't get it done under warranty I'll just buy news door straps and fix them.

Funnily enough I stalled the car again today and when I restarted it I got an engine fault message which cleared right away - weird. I just find it very easy to stall. Either that or I can't drive:)

I am stalling mine less and less already, but still manage to nearly every time while reversing.. maybe its because even after five years I cant driveto save my life Lol... I still manage to over-rev too :bang: hopefully I'll get the hang of it in time.

Over-rev? You don't even need to use the right foot on a car in 1st or reserve gear, as long as you are aware where the biting point is. All to do with the touch.....

I am having really bad clutch Judder in first when pulling away - I was going to post about it whan i saw this thread.

Is this something I can get looked at under warenty? - I'm sure its not right - sometimes the whole car feels like its shaking - It seems to be getting worse too in the last couple of days.

Any Ideas - I dont want to get a huge bill as I have had the car two weeks!!!

Hi Bo~Selct@ I read that your clutch judder has gotten worse over the last couple of days, I have been having trouble with my clutch as well and I was wondering if, apart from an obvious clutch problem, it has any thing to do with the cold weather. I have noticed that the engine tickover on a cold start up is quite a lot faster than I would normally use for a warm pull away. After the engine has warmed up the tickover speed drops and the clutch judder disappears until the car has been standing overnight or all day when again the first couple of clutch operations result in judder. My friends daughter had a similar problem in her Punto, when the dealer was contacted they replaced the clutch with no hassle. My Stilo is due for a service very soon and I shall see what the dealer makes of my judder problem.
