With all the recent threads about aircon, it was strange that I got this through the post today, from my local dealership.

They are offering these services:

- Anti-bacterial service, to clean out bacteria and fungi, guaranteed for 6 months - £23 INC.

- Full service, to drain old refrigerant, clean moisture system and debris, refill with gas plus anti-bacterial as above - £124 INC.

So or ? And be interesting to see if this is dealership wide or not!

EDIT - the bottom of the letter says 'PS Have you had a new poker filter in the last 12 months?' :chin: d'oh

I imagine any garage doing this job would cover all of those points simply by completing a normal drain & refill, only for a lot less than that. I don't know how to give it the thumbs down but that's what I give it.

Yeah, exactly - £124 does seem way too high for what I consider a 'standard' service.

My car is over 4 years old now, but the aircon is still pretty cold considering, so am in no rush to get it done this year. Maybe something I will consider next spring.

Where i am working now we offer a Air con service for £90.00 which includes full recycle of the system plus antibacterial additive - get 1 hour to do it as well. Also recommend that ac service be done every 2 years as well but thats VW though.

I DECIDED TO CHANGE THE FILTER AND HAVE THE ANTI BACTERIAL BOMB DONE ON MINE 2 WEEKS AGO BECAUSE THE CAR WAS BUILT MARCH 05 AND I GOT IT MARCH 06 THATS A YEAR OF NO USE EVEN THOUGH THE CAR ONLY HAD 12 MILES ON IT!! AND YOU DO NOTICE THE DIFFERENCE!!
I'D RECCOMEND IT!!
£124 DOESNT SEEM TOO BAD REALLY.. WE CHARGE 79inc FOR A RE-GAS AND £49.95 inc FOR THE BOMB AND A POLLEN FILTER.. (MAIN DEALER )
