Technical Sky Roof Not working!

Thanks 4 the replys.
No I have not as I do not know how to. Advice is more than wecome.

Also the roller blind is not working either so its obviously not the switch or motor as they have seperate switches and motors.
Not had any experience of this but I'd agree - more likely to be a fuse.

The init sequence is very simple.
  1. Turn switch to closed position
  2. Press in and hold (like an oven control) until you hear two clicks (the roof will shut if it's already open).
  3. Release and push in again and hold (within 3 seconds).
  4. The sunroof should fully open and fully close followed by two clicks as before.
  5. Release the button and it's initialised
Did the blind work before?
Have you tried the remote?

Thanks I will try that in a few mins.

yes the blind and roof worked perfectly untill thursday afternoon.

Only the windows will open and close wit the remote.

Thanks Argonought that worked a treat If u were here id buy u a pint.

Once again The forum saved me money and mental anguish.

Thanks

Glad you're sorted :) Just need to fix mine now :(

BTW forgot to mention that it's best to do the init sequence when the engine is running (because of slightly higher voltage on electrics) but if it works OK then I wouldn't bother (y)

well,is it under warranty?
It's out of Fiats warranty but I've got a third party 4th year warranty (nearly up).

As I've said this will only cover the motor (plus labour).

Tried it again tonight and provided you don't actually drive anywhere then it works fine on all settings :bang:

From what I understand of it the motor receives the speed of the car from the body computer which is used to increase/decrease load sensitively (caught fingers protection). Otherwise the motor might refuse to open/close the sunroof at speed due to air pressure.

It's a valid point though. Pressure on the rear blades might be fooling the motor into trying to release the load. I have to say that doesn't feel right to me as I'm sure I'd have noticed if the sunroof failed quickly at high speed. Also the roof works fine fully open at any speed and can also be closed at high speed!

However a loose intermittent connection, as you say, would almost certainly play havoc with the system.

One thing I haven't mentioned is that in fault condition (it doesn't always clear after every journey) it isn't possible to carry out the init sequence. Reading what I've listed in a prior post - it fails on the 2nd part of the sequence. Main agents reported same thing (actually faulty when they looked at it - contrary to Sod’s Law)

I think the only way to get to the bottom of this is to try to get the motor changed under warranty. If that doesn't fix it - well give up I guess. :bang:

Give up !! GIVE UP :nono: dont know the meaning of the words and I didnt take you for a quitter either try try and try again Argonaght upward and onward Into the valley of death rode the 600 (y) Blimey !!! where did that come from :p I had the extra wheatabix for breakfast

A bit poetic today aren't we Phil - too much sun perhaps :p

You're right I don't give up easily - so today............

the Stilo gets a nice Wax & Polish instead (perhaps it will work 100% after that ;) :D )

Had a wee think about this & from memory there is a speed signal wire at the motor which I assume closes the roof or some of it dependant on vehicle speed.

Mine (04) stays put regardless of speed. Standstill to 80 it doesn't budge. Closes and opens regardless of speed travelling also.

There is a speed signal sent to the switch,I can only 'assume' like some Alfas it closes the roof to some extent at high speed after all its there for a reason.....80mph thats illegal:nono:
Ian, I confer with Rich.

Mine's fine at any speed.

As I've said I'm pretty sure it’s just compensation to allow the motor more power to move the blades against the air pressure. At lower speeds less power is provided and therefore more protection for little fingers.

ROFL:D

Argo...ment to add motor has a hall effect sensor inside as its anti-trap device. If you have no joy with the motor it can only be one other thing...& I have done this before and it wasn't nice:(

I think you just love to frighten people T1 :p

Just been in touch with main dealers. They've agreed to do the job but apparently they've never fitted a motor before :(

It's the labour times that worry me most though (from Fiat warranty times):
Change Blind motor = 2.40 hours.
Change Panel Motor = 2.45 hours

Should I go somewhere else ?
