Hello all, just checking out http://www.fiat.co.uk and they have all the new fiat stilo 2004 prices and specs.

New changes are leather is better but has gone from £750 to £800

ESP has gone up by a crazy amount £395 to £700.

As for the main prices they have gone down but as the extras have gone up the total price of your car will be either more or the same depending on what u have as the extras.

Also now they dont do the electric seats!!!!

Manual 2.4 Arbarth is now on there!!!!

The 5 door Arbarth is now called Prestigio!!!!

Have a look at the site and post here what you think is good and bad.

Cheers
Andy

Have just looked and you're right! They have changed it. Why won't Fiat just learn to stop changing things so often. It means once again the dealers won't have a clue what is going on and chances are will be less informed on the spec of the cars than their customers. [:(!]

Ahhh, you beat me to it! I've been checking regularly to see when they'd update, I notice there is no mention of the 'new' 1.4 and multijet JTD though.

Sounds like the Prestigo is going to basically be an Abarth, but without the sporting edge, a little pointless really:(

Its a shame about the electric seats too, I fancied them in my next car:(

Ooops, seems the new 1.4 is on there:I

No details on the multijet yet though[:(!]

Don't worry, the 1.4 has the 6speed 'box:D

I think its just a case of the 1.4 is more in line with what competitors offer, anyone who doesn't understand it's an engines power that maters, will probably doubt the 1.2:(

I have to agree!

I'm a bit disgruntled to see they've dropped the 1.2 from the range!
Communting to and from London, I'm only really interested in economy and comfort, both of which the 1.2 does fine!
Of course, a bit more power wouldn't go amiss, but for a big chassis the 1.2 is surprisingly nippy!

(and of course, as it's my first proper car, the insurance thing is very important (especially down here in the SE!):(

you are right bren, no real fuel saver petrol car this time.the 1.4 is too strong to be a fuel saver.bad thing for the 1.2 but seemes that that engine is already very well exploted in punto.

I think I saw that the 1.4 is to average at about 43mpg, which I think is pretty similer to that of the 1.2. I know those are just Fiat's figures so real values may vary but it does seem promising for a 1.4

I think it may be a maketing thing as in relaity it's BHP and at what RPM the car delivers the BHP and torque (lb ft/rpm) you should be looking at not the engine size. However, when most people look at cars the first thing they say is what engine size is it and not what the power output at 3000 RPM and what 1B ft do you get at 3000 RPM.

What's interesting is that the 1.2 is 80bhp but the new 1.4 is 94 bhp. Bearing in mind the 1.6 is 103 bhp is doesn't leave much between the 1.4 and 1.6 now. Is there any real point in having a 1.4 and 1.6 with so little difference?

CMC, thats exactly what I thought.

One thing that is a little crap, is that the manual Abarth is so far behind the Selespeed in terms of spec, ie. no satnav, cruise etc.[V]

Oh, and can anyone make head from tail of the specs[?] The whole microsite/configure thing just contradicts itself, its impossible to tell definitely what the spec of any particular model is, no wonder the dealers are crap if FIAT can't give it to them straight[:(!]

Why not just keep it simple, and not chop and change specs all the time[?]

Absolutely James - Fiat made a bit thing about the Stilo and how easy it would be to determine spec and price. In general terms if you were to go up an engine size or spec it would cost another say £500 or whatever it was.

It seems to be that they are cutting down on prices and spec and hoping to make there money through people adding kit to the cars.

It seems though some of the optional extra's have been discontinued?

When I was buying my car I could not get a definitive answer on whether or not it had a CD player and Colour Coded mirrors, gladly it has both:D

But not 12v outlet in the boot:( I notice this is still included in the spec? I wonder if the latest Stilo's will include it or not?

It's becoming a bit confusing. There must be some strategy behind all the spec changes and engines changes to do with generating sales and re-launching the car with a face lift as I don't think it's hit sales targets.

It's really unfortunate for Fiat as I think they make decent cars and give good value for money but they're carrying a lot of baggage from issues in the past. I remember reading that whatcar? review on the Stilo when it forst came out and they said "it could almost be German".

I can def see why they went for the 1.4, its an engine size the average Joe associates with a car of this size, I can't think of another car that has an engine as 'small' as 1.2 and is this size.

As for the spec? Well its anyones guess, I notice though the Active Sport has been made more sporty, with titanium dash inserts and sideskirts, a good move maybe, but I think the 3door dynamic should include these too, as it sort of fills the gaping gap between Abarth and Active Sport

I think the only reason they may have dropped the 1.2 in favour of the 1.4 is the possibility of adding air con to the 1.4 which the 1.2 would just die with!

Well as far as i'm concerned i was lucky to get a 1.2, i find its racy enough, very revvy, very economic, has enough torque and low enough gearing to bundle along a 30mph road at 30mph in 5th gear, very quiet and so far its been cheap on the wallet!

2003 3 Door Stilo 1.2 Active, Sassy Grey, plastic wheel trims - and 43mpg average so far. Love it, Oh yes!

Ah, now 30mph is a no no in 5th in mine!

I think it would have worked ok with Aircon, I really do believe its a 'thats what people demand' reason for change.

A shame really, I like driving a car that isn't too conventional:D

30mph in 5th is fine for my car, but the jtd80 develops it's torque 500rpm lower than the 115hp.
