Please could you have a look at your instrument panel next time you start the car up? When does the ASR icon (looks like a spinning wheel)light up? Mine doesn't at all. Not on start up check, when the wheels spin and ASR kicks in or when there was a fault. If I press the ASR button, the button itself illuminates, a message on the display tells me ASR is off but again no light. It's driving me mad!

The ESP icon lights up on start up and flashes when I floor it out of a junction when it's wet.

The manaul tell me that if a warning bulb fails I'll get a message - I don't!

Thanks in desperation,

Simon

Hi sbaddison

I have a 1.6 with no ESR, so I dont know if it is the same. Does your ASR button LED light up when you turn the ignition off - that should also go off after a few seconds. It does sound like a light gone in the Dash - like you said, there should be a warning message. FIAT can force the light to go on and check the Dash electronics, get them to do that to yours.

Hope that helped.

My ASR light goes on when I turn the key and off after the engine is switched on. I have seen it flashing a couple of times as well, when my wheels lost traction for a moment on the frozen snow... So if I'm not wrong then you must have a bulb failure on your dashboard. Go to a FIAT garage and ask them to check it.

I think he is correct, you must have a bulb failure although the computer normally tells you if you have.

Thanks to all for the responses. The amber LED on the ASR switch does come on and go out when I start the car. It also lit up when the system crashed. It's just the bulb (or LED) on the instrument that does nothing! So much for a warning if the warning lamp fails.

I take my hat of to those of you that regularly drive in the colder climates (Switzerland). Must be fun when you get used to it?

that stilo computer is wired.

once i had a bulb in the side indicator, the computer detected it and it went out with the message "front side.....".next time i got a bulb problem was in the normal driving front lights (the middle ones) that the computer didnt detected it.after that i got a rear plate bulb problem and the computer this time went right.another time the bulb for the front foglight was out and the computer missed telling me again. Does it work selectively or by his will?[?]

As I said ar another post as well, I have to correct my previous reply, because my ASR light doesn't illuminate as yours don't. The one that I always see is the ESP one. So probably there is not a fault. Have you checked the manual?

The ASR light does not light up on the dash because there aint one!
Only the switch illuminates at start up. Hope this helps.
If you have ESP which you should have, this lights up but goes out when the engine has started.
Best of Luck.
