Hi,

I have checked the accuracy of the mpg computer over 16000 miles in my abarth (5dr convenience but much prefer the 3 dr look)and I actually get about 10% more than the computer says - thankfully, as the abarth can sip some fuel when pushed! On a gentler run I have had up to 33mpg, but foot down it can be 24...ish

Any abarth owners have similar findings?

ps After nearly one year with the car I still feel really satisfied overall........so so many goodies to play with.....

Funny you should say that - I have found that the speedo is out by exactly 10%- At 70mph you are actually only doing 63mph.

What I haven't done is check if the trip shows a consistent speed to the speedo - if it does, then this implies that there is a 10% margin being added to the distances to get the 2 to match. This then raises the question of, is the mileage correct, or is it over by 10% too - if it were it would give the effect you are describing! Interestingly, I have noticed that a particular journey I have done and was recorded as 30miles in my previous car (bmw 3 series) is recorded on the Stilo as 33miles!!

This may all be a coincidence, but I'm certainly going to investigate this further....

Almost all cars read under on the speedo, its this nanny society we live in. I'm sure there is a nice wee EU directive that states all speedo's must read 10% under actual speed. Of course it could also be a sneaky way for car manufacturers to get their combined fuel consumption to rise! :I

2003 3 Door Stilo 1.2 Active, Sassy Grey, plastic wheel trims - and 43mpg average so far. Love it, Oh yes!

A quick test at constant speed with the trip meter today revealed that the trip was initially accurate then overreading by about 5% after a short time.
