this may be in the wrong section so a mod can feel free to move if they wish.

I want to clean my seatsbecause they have a few stains on them (not what you think) and i've seen a tin of interior valet stuff with the brush on the end, would this stuff make the airbag sensors in the seats go funny or not?

Dan

So youv'e give it a tug and its popped out and now look what you have done Dirty seats Ewwww :yuck: but with regards the cleaning issue Dan well to be honest I have never thought about it I suppose wetness could affect the seat pad sensor in the passenger seat if you give a real soaking as yet I havnt had need to clean the seats but I would be interested to see comments from the others though :chin: Hang on a minuet  you could take off the seat coverings as they are removable but would they take a machine wash I wonder they may fall apart.:)

I have used a stain remover on both the seat and the roof lining and as far as i know it hasent affected the sensor.

Use one of the "foam" cleaners, this should be ok, I would imagine the sensor is able to cope with a certain amount of "moisture".

Then pray :worship:

I've never heard of anyone sustaining electric shock in doing this, so relatively safe, but don't expect the airbag system to be the same. ;)

We could end up with a case of electrified nuts  so a warning to all DONT spill any drinks :D

would it not be easier to get it valeted?

Ok so you put your car in to be valeted and you go along to collect it you look inside your face lights up a grin ear to ear :D wow its immaculate your now afraid to sit in there in case you get it dirty[I bet active Matts reading this] :p but eventually you overcome the urge out of necessity  well you have to get home and in you get put the key in the ignition start it up and the dash board lights up and BEEP BEEP BEEP  air bags awwwww feck that was an expensive valet :(

There are lots of cars with things in the seats, i thought they just steamed the seats anyway. surely if its done properly it shouldn't do any damage. just don't take it to a cowboy.

I can remember year ago putting the wife's car in for a valet he wasn't a cowboy but managed to cause damage to the pulse generator that ran the speedo he refused responsibility for it as well so all cleaning and valeting is now done by me better safe than sorry ;)

I wouldn't count on it! There's a big named valeting company close to me and they have a terrible reputation.

Far better to do the job yourself - assuming you have the time :)

#1 excuse randomness and spelling, had a nice liquid lunch, that lasted 3 hours!!

I quoite enjoy cleaning my car myself, on a saturday mroning, plus you have the satisfaction of driving a niec clean car knowing that it's all clean cause you've gave it some TLC.
