No, I plan to do this though.

hmmmm..... i dont recal seeing posts on here about having to change one yet this guy has done two?

use eper at the top of this screen ( i cant access at work) and check the price for a seatbelt from fiat and see if they are marking it up.

probably coincidence but you never know, and theres a credit crunch!

Re: Stilo M/W Aircon 1.6 Failed MOT

Hello, again I can't thank you all enough for your help and advice!

I picked the car up this morning, going to take it to a friend of a friend who will re-test and double check for me.

Had a look at the seat belt and it does have a small tear (about half a cm) at the bottom next to the driver's door, i must have caught it in the door or something!

Meantime, my search for a cheap seat belt continues just incase!!

Cheers again!

Re: Stilo M/W Aircon 1.6 Failed MOT

Well if it is the static part of the belt, i.e. does not have to (a) slide through a guide or buckle and (b) roll around the belt drum, then there is no reason the belt can't be repaired by cutting the damaged section out and having the belt professionally stitched back together. If there is enought belt slack/pay-out left on the inertia real then the whole end could be cut-off and remade.

By professionally I mean a vehicle, aircraft or hoist belt manufacturer or service organisation. The only downside to this is that you will still have to fully remove the whole belt system and take to get repaired.

Failed mot again!!!

Well today was MOT day and my Mw has failed its mot, nothing major except front offside tyre worn inside edge and nearside front upper anti roll bar linkage, i presume they mean these........... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FIAT-STILO-Fr...s=66:4|65:1|39:1|240:1318|301:1|293:1|294:200

Might as well replace both off them at the same time, Now tyres i have always used Hankook but these tyres were only changed in nov last year and have covered only 8000 miles so i am open to suggestions as they only had maybe a mill or so over the wear indicator so might have got 10,000 at a push. Which is terrible really even though it gets a hard life.

I did also get 4 advisory items, two of which i hadnt even thought about,

Both rear direction indicators discoloured,
front exhaust slight leak on the flexie pipe
and nearside outter handbrake cable broken.

So not too bad really.

Re: Failed mot again!!!

Well have read the guide and ordered the link arms from a seller on ebay, Now just got too sort out tyres, It appears i have had the wrong aspect tyres put on in the past 60's and not 65's.
I dont understand the rolling circumference bit but the difference between the 195/60 (1873) and the 195/65 (1934) circumference in brackets so say over the course of 8000 miles what would have been the difference in mileage, Could anyone tell me please.

Could i instead of 195/65/15's (1934) put on 205/60/15's (1909) i guess the speedo would still be out but not by such a big margin as it is now.

Re: Stilo failed MOT.... shock horror!

Whole exhaust or just the back box?
My 2002 car is still on the original exhaust which is astonishing. I know the back box can't go on much longer though and have a new one here ready to go

Re: Stilo failed MOT.... shock horror!

Entire system, to be honest I'm certain it would have lasted longer had my driving patterns not changed so much over the last year or two. I'm now down to normally only doing 5mile tops each way for work, instead of my previous 25miles which kept the exhaust in tip top condition.

I was actually looking at the exhaust when I put the Claws back on, and I noticed the back box was rotten all the way around at the end and that the front pipe was a lot more brown and crusty than the last time I looked lol.

Garage did a sterling job, I stuck with OEM and it was £139 all in, which included flexi pipe, front pipe and back box, new hangers and fixings for the flexi pipe. Car looks like new underneath!
