Ive had my Stilo nearly a year now no and the rear doors have started to squeek Ive tryed a bit wd40 on the hinges and the squeek is still there any ideas?

I dont use the rear doors very much could this be the reason for the squeek?

I have a 3DR Stilo and when I'm going over some bumps or something that is not smooth and I have the radio turned off (means that it's quiet in the car) ... doors produce awfull to hear squeek.ppl in the garage know how to fix that ... i think that there is one screw that is turned and it adapts the thing that makes the noise.

I have the same problem with my 5 door 2002 model - I have tried grease also with no luck:( its embarrassing if you give anyone a left they think the car is going to fall apart lol

If you do get something to cure the problem please share !!!

janevj,

My brother has a 3dr Abarth. He said that he noticed a rattle/squeak on the first day he owned it. When he messed around, he found that he could pull the door pocket (there is a screw on it (Allen Bolt) - my 5dr hasn't got one). He took the screw out, sprayed it with Rock Grease (it sprays on like WD40 but expands to go semi-solid), and did the screw up very tight.

He says the noise hasn't re-appeared since.

Hope that helps!

P.S. My Rear Passenger Door Trim squeaks - it's being replaced in a few days.

Bungle,

I've just re-read your post and realised what you mean - I've got exactly the same on my 18month old Stilo. It's because I never use the doors. I'll get it greased at its 2yr Service.

I think the noise comes from the silver bar that is bolted to the B-pillar by two bolts - try opening the door, and coating it in a non-disappearing grease (i.e. dont use WD40, use something like Copper Grease). Repeatedly opening and closing the door might cure it.

My Abarth had a horrible noise onwhen closing the drivers door from new.

If you look at the A post you'll see 2 hinges, an electrical connector and a device that limits the door opening. This device goes through a floating plate retained to the door by 2 allen bolts. In my case these were loose and the plate was moving as the door closed. Tightening them up did the trick.

We've got a rear door on our 2002 5 door that creaks and groans worse than my next door neighbours K-reg Citroen ZX (which is a skip on wheels). I've tried giving it the Vaseline treatment (ahem) but it's made bugger all difference. Might have to go and see Mr Dealerman..... along with the headlight with condensation and, erm, has anyone come out in the morning to find both of their front windows open before they've pressed any buttons?

Hi baldybloke

I haven't suffered from that myself, but it is a known fault. The DOOR NODES need replacing. Also with the headlights; there is a new cover at the back that allows the headlights to breathe. Get your dealer to ventilate the units then fit the new covers.

I was just about to post about this problem when I read it! Bungle what kind of grease did you use? where did you apply etc?

The passenger door on my 3-dr Stilo makes a rather annoying squeak when you open and close it!

This is caused however, by the rubber corragated seals on the door mechanisms, and there's nothing I can do about it!

I've finally solved it! After having a Brava for 2 years that did it, and now the Stilo for nearly a year, it's finally gone!

I got some "3-in-1 White Lithium Grease" from halfords (where I work) and used that. I sprayed it on the silver bar and BOTH hinges (got them quite covered, but it's best to hold a cloth behind it, as this grease goes everywhere), and then opened and closed the door about 10 times. When it had stopped (yay! :)), i wiped off the excess grease from the hinges.

When I get my new rain sensor in, new subframe (I hope FIAT say yes this time), and my creaking dash sorted, i'll have the perfect Stilo.

I've fallen in love with my car again!

Same problem here on the rear doors, applied some SG85 White Grease on the retainer bars and hinges, problem solved.

ive got this problem now, but i only seem to have one silver hinge, a black hinge and a plastic tube which i assume has electrics in it, which of these needs greasing!?

Funnily enough, now you mention it, one of my backdoors seems to have a bad squeak when it is opened - will have a look later and see if I can identify whereabouts it is coming from :)

i had the dealer look at this - and they couldn't fix it and I've tried using spray on grease etc and i just can't seem to get rid of it. To be honest I think the only way to fix this is to get new hinges or take them off and grease them properly.

It's very annoying.
