When I have the fan on full (4) wit the temp turned to cold and the air con button pressed It makes a huge amount of noise wit fu** all air being blown from the vents.

I was in a ford focus last week and when the fan speed was at 1 it was equal to being on full blast in the stilo.

It has been like this since i bought the car but its now I need a bit of cold air coming through the vents.

Any help would be appreciated..

Thanks..

thanks deckchair That was the problem, I took the filter out and it was full of crap, I will buy a new one tomorrow. I put the cap back on without the filter in place and it was fine.

Just one other thing, do u need to somehow fill the air con system wit coolant if so how often dose it av to be changed and where is the access point.

Thanks again!! ..

The A/C Low pressure recharge point is here on your car- real easy to get to

You only need to refill if there's a need to refill. Most systems could do with an annual service check/ refill although I've heard of people going 10 years and still blowing cold air (probably live in Iceland)

where in the car is this located. also is there a special fluid for it and if so how dose it go in??

Bought can of gas and Gauge from Halfords today costing Me €60 (£40) I connected it to the low pressure Valve and started filling As i was filling I heard a noise coming from the left side of the engine around where the belts are, sounded like the gas was escaping. (Half a can gone down the drain). I could not see where the Gas was leaking.

After reading some of the threads I discovered that this is a common occurance, All I want to know is if its the same location where the leak occurs and how is it fixed.

I will go out in a few mins and see if I can locate the leak.

Ok Dub you've got a sizeable leak. Shouldn't take long to find it as you'll have oil everywhere around the leak. They can leak from anywhere but look around the joints and you might be lucky and it just be an o seal blown ( I had one of those) Your Stilo being 02 is susceptable to the air con pipe fracturing. Follow the pipe from the compressor to the front of the car.

Mine was fractured here and if so then you need a new (longer) pipe.

As you'll have lost all the gas through the leak then, once you've cured the source of the leak, you'll need to get your system professionally serviced so that it's vaccuumed down to remove water and pressure checked and properly refilled otherwise it'll never work to full capacity as your system is now full of air. You can get your A/C pressure checked and refilled for £60-80 so it's not worth messing around as you'll probably need at least two of the cans that you bought. Keep your top up can for topping up later once it's been repaired

The Pic above is where the leak is. I can't see any obvious damage to the pipe which runs from below the oil filler cap to this location it looks ok but there could be a minor crack in it. I will try and remove it tomorrow. It looks a bit akward as there is a plastic pannel at the front corner of the car restricting access to the bottom of this pipe.

not really going off topic much... But 'T14086' what do they actually do in the aircon service and re-gas? Is it just a drian of the system and then just to re-fill it? If so can this be done by myself?

Remaining gas is evacuated, system is then pressure tested, this will show any leaks/burst seals. If a leak is suspected a dye is injected to locate the leak.Gas with oil is then put into the system & monitored, temperature is tested aswell.
Remember if a pipe/seal has broken for any length of time then a new drier should be fitted as its effectivness will be greatly reduced due to water absorbed.

Thanks for advice I really do appriciate it.

I was hoping I could fix the problem myself as I hate being ripped off but it looks like I will have to give in this time.

I really want my Air con Working but Im not willing to loose an arm & Leg for it. :(

Hey - I'm looking down the barrel of this one, too - did you end up getting it sorted? If so, would be interested in knowing where / how much...

Cheers

Looking at DubWits picture of 14/06/06 my condenser sprang a leak in same place, looks like pipe chafes in plastic clip and with water on job as well pipe corrodes through (about 3mm round patch on mine)
Changed it myself in under an hour......but you'll need a pit or some ramps as it slides downwards after taking plastic panels and mounting off.
cost of condenser £127.00 + vat (trade) and 60 quid to regas it:D

The same pipe broke that broke on Deckchairs air con (Seems to be a common occurance). I got this pipe the other day from Michael barable motors In Swords it cost €50. It was handy to fit, 20 mins job.

Now I have to go and get the system vaccumed and Re-gased. Im getting that done today from a Guy in Tallagh (€90) which aint bad. I found his number in the Golden pages under Car Air con.

There are A bunch of cowboys called "Auto Air conditioning" out in Dunshaughlin but dont go near them. I rang them last week and he made arangements to meet him, so I arrived at the location he suggested and the ****** never showed up, when I rang his phone He wouldnt answer. And he quoted me €150 (C-u-n-t)
