I have a problem with my Stilo that has caused the odometer reading to show an inaccurate figure.
I've read that when I sell the car, I am legally obliged to tell the buyer that the reading is incorrect and that it should be disregarded. I am allowed to say how much I think it's out by (about 1500 extra miles so far) and I might be able to get the dealership to sign something that explains what the fault was.
So if you were buying a car and you were told the above:
1. Would you still consider buying it?
2. Would you expect the asking price to be reduced, if so by how much? (assume the asking price was £10,000)
This is just out of interest at this stage, but I'd like to get an official figure from somewhere too, any ideas who could advise me?
I may have to claim damages from the dealership that sold me the car, so I need to come up with a reasonable figure.
Thanks for your help!
