does anyone else find their brakes snatch at lower speeds (unless you are very gentle) yet when breaking from higher speeds it feels a little spongy?

just i have noticed it several times and its a bit weird

Hmmm, not sure - probably because I can't recall that far back. I know use EBC discs and pads, and they seem to stop the car quite quick from speed

I also have EBC pads & discs so no complaints when it comes to stopping power at high speed or feel at lower speed but I do sometimes get some snatching in the last phase of slowing down.

I'm pretty sure, however, that this is coming from the selespeed hanging on to drive and then releasing awkwardly.

Ah but stu has grooved and dimpled disks and green stuff pads are you useing the same or standard disks/pads :) I am also useing the same as Stu and I find a big improvement in the braking once they have warmed up and that doesnt take very long ;)

Me too :) and like I say I'm pretty sure that low speed snatching is down to the transmission not the brakes on my car. It's no biggy though, I just make sure I don't spend too much time driving slowly - it is an Abarth after all

I have to admit the Snatching seems quite apparent on my 2.4 manual, it has only got 1400mls on it so it may improve.

My G/F takes great pleasure in mocking my lack of driving skills though ;) so it brings some entertainment to her any way.

Pete

yeah, the gear changedown does make for some interesting braking ... rather than most manuals where you knock it out of gear and pull up slowly i guess your always "under power" and you have to really pre-empt it and release a little when it changes or you get a jolt - so good braking in a stilo becomes an art :)

i'm pretty sure thats not what i am getting though, it really seems to snatch at me on low speeds and i dont think its to do with the brake temps

to be fair, once slammed on in an H plate metro GTA and had the pedal on the carpet and it didnt want to stop- that was scary but it was quick and I was testing the brakes for a mate, just thought I was going to run out of road!

This makes the stilos spongyness seem fantastic braking
