Re: Headlight Level Motor's

i've got aftermarket xenon, autolevelling is not specified for aftermarket systems, and as i've said, noone has ever complained.

i'd have the manual system working if it werent for those stupid expensive motors that keep braking :p

Re: Headlight Level Motor's

yup its those sticks. after removing the stupid motors, take it to an mot garage. they should align it for you for a nominal fee (y)

well thats what i did anyway, and noone has complained about my xenons yet :slayer:

those motors are bloody expensive for what they are :bang:

Thanks, Do you know which white rod I need to move (and in which direction) to move the headlight down? :)

Cheers
Matt

Do you have to take the bumper off to replace the headlight unit?

Ive got this problem and im not too fussed about getting a new unit, just need to know how easy it is to replace the headlight!

For the headlamp YES; but I think you can remove the motor from under the wing although I haven't done so myself.

Most of the info is in this thread.

Thanks argonought, weirdly on the way home from work today the levels looked ok! Is there an acceptable level of whirring? I only ask as when parked on the drive I adjusted the levels using the switch on the dash and both headlights whirred, but both were moving!

So has my problem corrected itself?

Now it's funny you should mention that.

I recently changed the NS dipped beam (horrendous on the JTD :() but after I'd put everything back together I realized I was getting the wer... wer...wer... noise from that side of the car :bang:

Wasn't sure what to do as alignment was still good but decided to try the adjuster anyway. Amazingly both lights tracked perfectly but even better the noise stopped as well! (y)

for those wanting an easy fix to the problem when their lights are pointing skywards and the motor whirring, you can adjust the light manually (the inside white stick at the back of the light for up and down) takes a lot of turns for actual movement but i've managed to get my problem one in line with the correct light at setting "3". I recommend a good squirt of WD40 inside the peg before you start turning.

Mine is now perfect ( apart from the motor noise of course)

Well...... might just be a better idea to actually fix the problem

That was I think the point of this thread :chin:

as i'm off to France in two days and don't want to dazzle oncoming traffic I went for the quick fix. Useful to know for other people in the same predicament...
