the boot release button on the keyfob does not pop the boot, is it meant to just unlock the boot and you have to open with the handle or is it suppose to popup?

at the moment to get into the boot i have to unlock the whole care and then use the boot release button under the handle on the boot.

does anyone else have the same problem as me or should i be taking it in to be fixed? cheers.

I dont have the Nav system but do have mycar, i have checked in the mycar and there is a boot option, when I set the boot lock to be indipendant it doesnt help, just stops me getting into the boot completely.

I need my other key re-coding anyway so i think i will get the dealer to look at the problem at the same time then.

I thought that was how it was suppose to work. You press the button on the key, that unlocks the boot, then you use the handle to actually open it up.

Erm, mine is kinda similar, but I think the key fob does remotely unlatch the door - it's only if you're not quick enough that it engages again, and you need the toggle switch (handle)...

Just read back over that, and it makes very little sense!!! To explain:

I can have the car fully locked and deadbolted - if I press the boot key on the fob and hold for 2/3 seconds, the boot will delatch (with it's funny sound!) - if I pull the boot at the same time, it'll open (no need to activate the handle switch)... If I don't pull open straight away, the latch re-engages, and I need to use the handle...

Does this help...? (Does it make any sense...?!?)

yes thats how it works, it unlocks the boot but not the rest of the car, then you use the handle to open it.

You have to hold it in for about 2-3 seconds for it to unlock though.

Well on my 1.6 dynamic I press the lower [3rd] button to release the boot the boot then pops up and will sit there until I decide to lift it and does not re lock its self and as far as the handle or boot latch is concerned all I can say to that is WHAT LATCH  cos there's some kind of plastic covered handle there but as far as I can tell it serves no purpose at all in fact with all the different variations of boot closing/locking/opening I'm beginning to think that Fiat made it up from car to car as they went along :) and I had better say that I can also use the key If I wish to to open the boot.

My boot button on key fob doesnt work! It did when I first got hold of the car and then stopped working after a couple of weeks. If my car is locked the boot button wont work. I have to put the key in to open. Which ever way my boot never pops open, it will makes its funny little noise to say its unlocked but it doesnt and has never popped open before and that is on a 1.8 dynamic 3dr.
I did have my keys re-coded but the boot button still doesnt work!

I thought the spare key didn't have the remote locking, just the key itself?

Iv got two keys and both have the remote buttons on them :) Theres a possibility also that the solinoid for the auto boot could be faulty

Yep - PNL is probably onto something there, ladyshy - more likely your key's working fine, and it's the boot that's at fault - at least, this's how mine was when I bought it, but FIAT dealer was able to give it a quick fix (dodgy connection of solinoid wiring) - they did it for free, too (as the car was in getting a service, anyway - so "technically" free)!!!

Can I just clarify:-

If you press the boot button it unlocks the boot but does not raise it.

This is the case with my 02 1.8 Stilo

My friend has a bmw and if he presses the boot button it actually raises the boot for him. Handy when carrying shopping.

Arrrrr I see (y) NOW what you mean well ill be damned fiat didn't include the little leprechaun with your car to lift the lid for you the tight buggers  :p your mates beemer has higher rated gas struts fitted to his boot lid and that i why his lifts and you have to use the little guy  (y)

right a little update for you guys, i have been out to the car and pressing and holding the button seems to release the boot (does not pop though), am i right in thinking this is how it should be then? cheers!

yea, it should unlock it, and it bumps up about half an inch, when you come to the boot you just have to lift it.. so you can leave your car locked.

I recommend getting a trunk monkey for raising that boot hatch

I thought I'd ressurect this thread as I went outside to have a go today and when the car is unlocked and you press the boot release button the boot pops open.

If the car is locked and you press the boot button it unlocks it but doesn't pop it open. You have to press it again for it to pop open.

Well It's like that with mine anyway.
