Hi all - I know this is a much discussed topic, but I'm hoping this question is different enough to warrent a new thread (maybe not!)

I have the trip computer in my 2002 1.2 Active set on Kilometers (I'm trying to integrate with the metric system over here - sue me!!!). It was in miles during its last service (November 2005, ~7000 miles ago). I'm getting a reminder now that my service will be due in about 200km - this is confusing me, because it strikes me as a fairly short interval... When I alter the service option on the menu to days, there're 199 left, but it will not stay in this configuration, and always defaults back to distance...!

Is this normal? In 200km, am I going to start getting service reminder "dings" everytime I start the car until next time the ECU is hooked up to a reader and reset? Is there anyway I can get the reminder to stay in a day-countdown?

Cheers...

you need to service your car at a set mileage or every year, whichever comes first.

So if the cars done quite a few miles it will need servicing more often, how many miles has it done?

So really you may as well get it serviced.

It doesn't go "ding" by the way
It just says
SERVICE DUE
CHECK OK
then it goes off

Which isn't too bad. I can put up with that

I've been putting up with that for the last 3 years or so!:p

See, normally, I wouldn't have a problem with this (first thing I did after buying it second-hand was to get a service), but that was only six months, or in distance, about 6,500 miles ago - technically (according to the garage that serviced it), it still has about 5,000 until its next service, not the 100-something-km the car's telling me!

Just a little

But thanks anyway... G
