Technical XENON Headlight Unit

Hi all
I Have just been quoted £850.77p to replace the offside light unit on my Stillo.. The car failed its first MOT due to no light pattern on the drivers side headlight ,Garage now tell me a small securing lug which holds the spring clip that secures the Xenon bulb has broken so NEW unit + new bulb + fitting inc vat comes to £850.77 p ,anybody got any idea where to get this type off headlight any cheaper

I would get in touch with Fiat customer care and ask for some contribution towards the repair - mainly because this is the 1st time the lights would actually have been checked for beam pattern and probably were faulty for some time - basically you could have claimed this fault under warranty if you had been aware.

Sorry to hear about that! I would agree with fiattech; call 0800 717000 and log a complaint with customer care.

I did the same for my Stilo; failed it's first MOT on centre exhaust, £162 to repair. I paid it and complained afterwards; just got £200 in the post in FIAT vouchers as I am a "valued customer" (great relationship with the dealer helped!). Phone FIAT before you pay and you may end up in a better position.

Edit: Also, since this is definitely a manufacturing fault and not wear & tear (after all Xenon's are supposed to be sealed for lifetime, whereas my exhaust is classified as a pure wear and tear item), you should have no problems

Hi Fiattech and Rroope thanks for the info and advice, will def contact Fiat and let you know the outcome also The garage just called to confirm they cant get the Xenon bulb untill next week Surprise/suurprise/surprise //told them to hold on light unit and glue the bulb in place to get my MOT done ,after all who says its got to be held with a spring clip
