Part no 0071714218 (all the dealer said it was a pressure sensor), so im assuming its AIR PRESSURE SENSOR.

Can someone confirm this.

I took car into dealer about 6 weeks ago after engine light came on, they checked it for errors and they told me the above part was faulty.

I paid a £50 deposit for the part which they told me was costing £80+vat, Im still waiting for the dealer to get the part, i spoke to them today and they still say its on order and they isnt any in the UK its being ordered in from Italy.

Luckily the car still drives but is bit jumpy on mornings and seems to be drinking bit more juice than normal.

Is this part available anywhere else and does it actually cost that much, I feel im gettin ripped off.

Any info would be great

Hey Kev

Just checked out that part number and it is an Inlet Manifold Pressure Sensor; cost is £88.42+VAT, but the discount code allows for 10%, so that's where the £80+VAT will be coming from! It's listed as a replacement to the one fitted on your 1.6, and the replacement date was 01/2004.

Checking shop4parts.co.uk yielded no results, so looks like FIAT only I'm afraid.

Hope that puts your mind at ease :)

I had this crappy sensor fail on me last week! Took it to dealer who checked connections and cleaned. Car is ok no (touch wood) but they said it may go again and if it does i will need a new one costing £90.00. So price seems about right.
My car also seems to be using a little more fuel aswell!

if your car is a 1.6 make sure its had the ecu update first as this cures the fault with these sensors 99% of the time..........

Thanks for all the reply's

Yes it is the 1.6 16v 2002
How will i know if it has had the update, Dont the dealers just do it automatically
when they check the errors or would i have to ask for the update?????.

Do they charge for updates

Thanks

Dealer will plug your car into an examiner and perform what is called a flash and then reprogram accordingly and yes they do charge for it.

Well car got new part fitted, i was also informed that the ecu was upto date already as this was a recall they rekon,

Ive noticed the car was performing far better now with new part but unfortunatel after only 3 days the engine light appeared again, and car was acting exactly the same way.

Returned car to dealers once again only to be told that a stilo expert was working on my car and he thinks it may be a faulty ecu as he remembers this problem affected another stilo he has previously worked on.

All they have done is reset the ecu and all seems well, but i know its going to happen again i can tell by the engine revs while idle. (eratic revs while idle)

A new ecu fitted i was told would be around £450 fitted.

I also asked if the part they had recently fitted was actually required as the problem i originally had is no better with this new part and they advised me that it definately needed replacing (who knows).

Anyone with this same sort of prob, Any thoughts on this would be good

Kev

I had these problems around Christmas time ( 1.6 stilo 2002 )and was getting really worried that i 'd need ECU or throttle body and have no car.

anyway couldnt get it into Fiat garage but a local independent did diagnostic check and cleaned idle control valve.

since then no engine fault light , idle stable, no stalling at traffic lights, happiness restored ( apart from when it rains heavily and the speedo cuts out ! )

Also I've stopped using supermarket petrol and use mostly premium high detergent stuff like shell optimax and esso supreme and BP ultimate .
