hi, since i bought the stilo a few weeks back the rev when stationary with engine on ie, at a traffic light the engine is really noisy and vibrates badly, it sounds and feels as if im putting the accelerator down then taking my foot off and on and off etc its really annoying, does anybody have any help?
cheers Alex

So what your basicaly saying is your revs are going up and down at tickover there are many threads on this subject the main culprit seems to be dirty idle valve in the throttle body .Deckchair5 was talking about this just a short while back :) check back on Stilo tech he actually tells me where it is and how to get to it (y) and how to clean the little flap [butterfly] :)

Minor adjustments of the idling speed is normal; all 5 of our Stilo's did it, and every one I've had as a courtesy car (another 3) did it too; I checked as I thought it was a fault with the first, it was very noticable!

It was worse on the 1.6. The new throttle body helped, but from what I understand there is an ECU software update that might cure this? Might be worth going forum searching!

Mine used to hunt up and down the rev range when idling in heavy traffic and dangerously sluggish when cold... cured with a software update :D cost £38 :( Dredge up my previous posts for more info...

Yes was talking to local Fiat dealer who rang me the other day this up date is called a flash at least thats what he called it since my last problem with the engine managment light coming on the idle problem has gone away [and didnt actually go in for the up date ]as a local garage did my diagnostic print out and work.
