Hello guys,

I'm also an Examiner freek :) and found this forum to be very helpful. (y)
I also have a copy of Examiner 5.5 that I managed to get going on an old PC under Windows ME.

I'm now in the saga for the interface...does anybody here found anyhting?

Examiner software is just for examiner hardware and nothing else. Small bits of it can be made to start on a laptop, even on a Windows XP, but it is otherwise useless. See Rroope's post in here on 23rd July which explains that fully

What others refer to is totally independent laptop software and totally independent hardware in the form of laptop to car connections, reading and creating raw CAN network signals and that's a different ball game

If you're curious about CAN, you can find a short course here.

Thanks mate, if that's so it's very disapointing...

I couldn't find the post you mentioned from Rroope.

this is realy frustrating:bang: :bang: :bang:

getting the original SW 6.6 / 7.0 for a "hand of euros" and realizing that and install code is nessary...

there has to be an way to make it works...

The CD is not the issue - the password (it's yearly) costs 400Euros - was told this today by my dealer. The principle being that anyone can have it (software rights I assume), but anyone (including FIAT dealers) have to pay the 400E annual premium for it, as well as hardware and software costs.

Just pay the 1/2 hour labour charge :p

The only problem is, I WOULD PAY. But the FIAT dealers her are REAL suckers (n) (n) (n)

What they say, is that after-markt is not possible! :yuck:

I ve changed the manual air con to the bizone auto aircon. now it doesn't work but i don't know why. NOONE is willing to help EVEN for money.
I would pay the 40€ and search a couple of things, make some "tests" with my abarth board(?) in my 1.8. but the don't want me to do:bang:

and i travelled 100km arround to 5differend dealers.

Can you now understand:cry:

Hi Yellow stilo.

I am the owner of a stilo and my family members are also owners of them(3 in total). I would be interested in purchasing this software etc. What will I need to make it work? Can you supply the said connectors etc? How much for the software the connectors and the instruction on how to use it. I basically only want to reset the service interval in stead of it saying "Service Due" all the time! We service the cars ourselves as my father is a fully trained FORD technician.
Cheers

Hello Katanabandit,

I am not the supplier of the hard / and software which is nessesary to reset the "service due" message - they can be purchased at www.canhack.de for aprox. 67 pounds including interface, software and cable (it's a German website but you can communicate in English, they will understand...)
Unfortunately the interface is not on stock at this moment, you might send the supplier (called "Fuchs") an E-mail to ask when he can supply again?
I only sell the code and describe the procedure for resetting the "service due" message - it was already done several times and it's 100% reliable as it is the same code which Fiat uses to perform the reset..
Price is 100 euro ( apr. 67 pounds) but of course you can sell the code to someone else (several times?) after buying it - that's up to you ...
As an alternative I can also sell you a complete Examiner diagnostic tester with all leads etc. for 800 pounds - in that case you could perform all diagnostics on Fiat / Alfa / Lancia cars !
If you are interested just send me a PM.

Regards,
Yellowstilo

So,
anyone managed to get the examiner work on the regular pc?
The problem is the VCI card.
Did anyone try to purchase the VCI card only and then plug it into the PC slot?

examiner uses its own interface this is why you cant find the comm board. the need for a modem is to update examiner's flash update function using the net, or using a cd (issued by fiat). If you do manage to get it working, make sure you know what your doing, you could do some serious damage with the examiner software if used incorrectly. i don't mean to sound patronizing by the way.

Hi Guys,
Have seen your chat re FES, i actually own one for about the last 6 years, it is not the HD version. But to tell you for fact that the interface is inside the screen unit as i had to get mine repaired which meant it had to be sent back to Italy, the invoice was just short of £1000 ! as for the software it does not time out !
My machine is running version 7.10 and it costs £400 per annum to keep getting the update disks, but i now understand that it updated online now !
It is the only scanner that can do everything that is required, ie weight sensing passenger airbag control.
It's a slow machine but does what it say it will do except i have struggled to get hold of a calibration update cd (Flash 6 ) but i expect this now online.
I hope this gives you a insight about the tool.
I would think that it was unlikely to be copied properly as there are so few about and it's not pleasant to take apart and have no idea what the circuit boards are assigned to do !
Regards Robin
