for power and engine modifications id go for the jtd although you can turbo the 1.6 the decision is down to you. the other side of it is money saving in mpg the standard jtd is quite good on the old fuel compared to the 1.6 but if you start doing tunning that will considerably drop
cant spell that word ^

Hmmmm, guess it all depends what you want it to do? The JTD is pretty good standard and tweaked I'm told it's awesome (y) The 1.6, it strikes me, would take a lot of money to go as well as a tuned JTD.
Handling of both is good but the 1.6 is arguably 'lighter' on it's feet than the JTD.

I have a JTD and I'd say it's a good buy over the 1.6 - - but like I said to begin with, what do you want it to do? If the performance is not really a consideration, and you're going to 'tart it up' a bit anyway, then a 1.6 is likely to be cheaper place to start.

yeh but has he got 3 grand spare after he buys the car if so then great idea oh and he can use that upgraded clutch i found on ebay. itl go like stink

wouldnt mind putting 1 on mine if possible. well if i had 3 grand to spare

Well, the only way to make the 1.6 fast is surely to turbo it - speak to the Greek boys...

And as for the JTD, well a full remap to 170bhp, with a full exhaust and upgraded clutch could be the way to go.

You cant really do anything performance wise with a 1.6 (unless you have an endless source of funds), so if you wanna tune you'll have to go for the JTD

Try having a 1.8, think thats less-moddable than the 1.6!

with "the greek boys" they've all bought the 1.6T model.... it comes with uprate manifold and exhaust/ gaskets.
I wanna get a turbo on my 1.6, but i got quoted for all in nearer the 2k mark... too much thanks.
