i know i am going over old news but i cant make sence of all the threads on this.

i have aquired a connect nav + and all necisary parts
ie. tray
microphone unit
gps/gsm antenna
and steering wheel with controls

now as i can make out you need to change the trays first.
then run gps/gsm antenna through roof lining down 1 of the front pillars and to were the unit will be.
run a 12v ignition live from cigeret lighter to behind the unit.
and install the microphone unit over head as i am using original there should be connecter behind interior light for this.
steering wheel has also got connecter block behind for straight swap from original.

with regaurds to code i understand that this is wat tells the ecu that sat nav has bin installed if i cant get this from seller. how would i aquire.

now i have read on another thread something about a can bus line, this is the thing i am having trouble understanding. wat is the reasoning behind this.

is there any thing else i need to know

your help would be appriciated

Right, let's see if I can help. Things you need to know:

(a) The wire for the microphone will be there but it terminates behind the dashboard somewhere. When we did it, we fitted a whole new dash wiring loom so never found where it went, but eLearn will tell you.
(b) The issue with the CAN bus line is that, since your Stilo wasn't factory fitted with Connect, the Body Computer will think it's a foreign node and flash the mileage. The way to overcome this is to put an in-line delay on the ignition feed to the Connect of about 4 seconds.
(c) I doubt you'll have the white connector P4, so unless you intend to solder all wires on manually you probably won't get the full CAN line interface anyway. You will get most though.

As for the code, it might work without it (ours did).

Hope that is of some use!

do you know wat the website is for elearn. and also im getting the standard gps/gsm antennas were would they run from

Don't know if eLearn is on a FTP, that's Stuart's area!

As for the GPS/GSM Antenna, do you mean the standard OEM Stilo one? If so, it goes down a C pillar, then along the sill up to the dash; has a midway connection behind the "My Car" Panel, then has a shorter set of cables to the rear of the Sat Nav. If you follow your current Coaxial aerial, you'll see it connected behind My Car and see the two gaps ready for the other connectors.

this is looking like more hasle than i thought. as you said you didnt need the code. but if i did how would i get it is it the same as wen you get a code for your standard radio

For anyone reading this if the car has had a CN+ fitted before and you are attempting to fit a replacement. Unless the new CN+ unit comes with the code forget it!! the only way to de code is to send it to Italy, cost 180 euro.
But upgrading the firmware to 9.8 somehow by passes the code, but I have not disconnected the power scince doing mine.
