Hope someone can help

I'll be picking my stilo up tomorrow but i have my own blaupnkt mp3 stereo from my last car to put in the stilo. Ive read about how to take the original one out and what facia to get etc, but would i need to buy any sort of adapter to connect it up or will the leads just fit straight in?. Also while on the subject of stereo :) are the speakers any good that are already in the stilo or would you suggest i replaced them with better ones. Then again whoever had the car before me might have already changed the speakers i dont know.

cheers

Nah no adapter was needed in my last car. I had a saxo and the cables and connects just fitted straight in. They were the standard square pin plug things ( not sure what they are called). Didnt need any adapters.

Cant remember what model number it is. Im at work at the moment ill have a look when i get home. Now that i have my car it looks like its a bit more complicated taking out the old standard stereo. Ill get it out though :) Bought the facia for it so will have a crack at it at the weekend when i have some daylight.

I've got a Panasonic in mine that just plugged straight in without the need for any ISO connectors.

Standard speadkers up front are fine if they are just driven from the headunit. Better quality than most other manufacturers OEM speakers. You might want to change the rears though, I found they sounded a bit "dull" compared to the fronts. I got around this by disconnecting them and fitting 6x9's in a re-inforced parcel shelf.

How did you get your old stereo out? I have 2 sets of removal pins the 2 point u shape ones and the flat ones, but they were what i used to take my stereo out me last car. Will i need somthing different? I'd prefer not to use a mallet :)

Is it easy by using a wire coat hanger? Will it come straight out or will it take a bit time to remove it

now i never had this problem mine came out realy easy mut my metes stilo thats another story.

we went to halfords were my mate works and tried every type of remover prongsnthat they make no look. so then spoke to another mate who works for a car audio place to ask if theyde ever done 1 before told us that the only way to get them out was to drill using tiny drill bit in radio wholes then put the prongs in and it will come out.

didt think ud have to do that so went to fiat they said thats wat they have to do also. tried it wiv my mates car and gues wat it worked doest damage radio either and goes back in fine. so id say if it dunt come out easily do that.

bit long drawn, sorry but i hope it helps

the coat hanger thing doesnt work in my experience might work on lesser cars like vauxhauls and fords

Coathangers work perfectly. Used them on both my Stilo's. I left my car with Midland Car audio to replace my headunit and two hours later got a call to say they couldn't get the standard radio off. I went round with 2 coathangers and removed it within seconds. Cowboys.

aah ok cheers. Hope i dont have to go down the drill road though. I have a feeling though, the guy who had the car before me had a different stereo in but put the original one back in when he sold the car. So if thats the case hopefully it will come straight out. There is a 5 disc blaupunkt changer in the car thats what makes me think he had a different one in. But i might be wrong. Ill have a go at taking it out tomorrow (y)

Go for the thicker coathangers. They also need to go quite a long way in, some 5 inches if I remember. Just when you feel most resistance push again and it pops. Dont start drilling, thats asking for trouble.

we did it fine didnt cause any hasle. try the coat hanger thing great if it works but the drilling is a last resort.

wat i cant believe is that fiat dont even have any removing prongs.

can i ask does any 1 know how the cn+ comes out is it the same 4 holes?

quick question how do u put pictures into ur gallery cant find it

Well i been at it for a while now but i cant get it to budge. Coat hangers go in but when they come to a stop no matter how hard i push they wont push in any further. I have one thick wire coathanger that i cut in 2 so i have to u shapes if you get what i mean.

If i had a hammer!! :bang: Well tryed allsorts screwdrivers, coat hangers other metal rods. nothing!! it will not budge. Think i will have to take it some car audio shop to see if they can get it out. I give up!!. .
