Whilst out in the car today - hey ho another (new one this time) failure warning - as the title says.

Any others had this one ?????

The owners manual says that this is a safety feature which stops the front windows from closing and crushing a kids arm ?????????????????????????

Its the sensors in both electric window top seals, to stop little johnnys head being chopped off when putting the window up. Take off the door panel and check the connector block, (white block, two wires) below the electric mirror internal trim, other than that its a new seal.

Anyone ever tested there sensors out, ive often been tempted but never had the balls to do it in risk of me squishing part of myself!

My dads got it on his beamer and when we bought it the dealer demostrated how it worked..............gets a bit close for my liking before it stops!

Well the car is back in at the local Fiat dealer - AUTO GEARBOX FAILURE - AGAIN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Will see if they sus out how to sort out this "pinch" fault.:bang: :bang: :bang:

Its very easy to demonstrate pinch sensors on the Stilo, lower the window right to the bottom and get ready to squeeze the seal where the glass disappears into at the top of the window, (you must squeeze top and bottom not inside and out.) Raise the window on auto and squeeze the seal and the window will stop and lower itself. If it gets too close pull your hand out quick:D

Circumcision on the cheap, 2 birds with one stone.
;)

Get in there!! (y)

BMW has the same system, as I'm sure most cars do. My FIAT dealer tested mine by lowering the window right down, then putting it up on one touch and lightly thumping the top of the seal. Window went right down immediately! (as one would hope!!!!)

would hope all cars have it now, can remember one of the first documented cases of a kiddy being hurt by the windows on a car was with a Fiat Tipo!, which instigated the sensors being fitted

my cinq has a total closure module added to it, if you interupt the windows when they are auto closing, they just stop. its not as complex what modern cars have, but its better than nothing. basically the module detects the high current draw from the motor meeting resistance (something stuck in the way) and shuts off the power. No need for sensors :)

Get your hand in there. It doesn't hurt.

Most car with auto-up windows have this feature. My last car had it on all four windows, as they were all auto-up types.

My very first car had it aswell, you stopped winding the handle if your head was in the way....
