Hi,

I've got a 2002 3-door Stilo Dynamic. Yesterday I accidentally damaged the nearside rear cluster light covering, making a hole approximately 0.5" wide by 1" long in the process. Fiat in Aberdeen reckon the whole rear light needs replacing (56 GBP for part, plus fitting), although all of the lights work fine and are undamaged.

Does anybody know if the plastic outer covering can be replaced on its own, as that's all that's been damaged? If the whole light does need replaced, I presume a non-Fiat dealer would be cheaper (I haven't got prices yet), but will this affect my Fiat warranty?

Douglas.

Hi

I believe that the unit is only available from FIAT as an entire cluster. Before getting my Stilo, we bought a Jet Blue Stilo (which we rejected) which had something like lacquer on the rear lenses. We enquired and they were about £60.

As for fitting, try fitting them yourself (read the handbook - it's the same process as changing a bulb), rather than paying Fiat to do it.

I'll check my CD's thoroughly and get back to you soon.

Hi

It's only available from FIAT and it is easily changed in about five minutes, you just unplug the old one, use a 10mm spanner to undo three nuts behind the light, pull the old one out, put the new one in, do up the three nuts, replace the plug and Bobs your uncle and Sally your aunt!

Easy peasy!

;):p:D

Thanks for the swift replies. Just checked the handbook, and it does look simple enough (even for me). Looks like a trip to the dealer this afternoon to order the part.

Do you know if the rear light unit comes complete with all the bulbs, or do they have to be bought and installed separately? Not too fussed either way, as all the current bulbs are fine, so I can swap them round to the new unit, or I'll have a set of spares.

Douglas.

Again, thanks to you both for your replies. Fiat Aberdeen had the very unit in stock, which I picked up this afternoon, and fitted in around 20 minutes - getting the nuts undone was a tad tricky, but got there in the end - and it works a treat. :)

Glad to be of assistance, and glad your car is all sorted now. Wish mine was! :D
