Hi,

I have the 1.9 JTD Dynamic three door and I have no power to the instrument binnacle. I looked up the fuse(s) and it seems to be either F37 or F53 in the fuse box at the bottom of the dashboard or Midi fuse F72 for Dashboard Control Unit which is located on the battery positive pole fuse box. However, my car doesn’t look like the image in the book for that. I’ve checked all fuses in the fuse box at bottom of dashboard.
Can anyone help?

The fuses F37 and F53 as you state.

I think one of them powers the binnacle itself and the other powers some of the services on it... but have a look at both.

The fuses are in the panel by your right knee (RHD). The lid, when open, should have a moulded "map" of which fuse is which and appears the right way round when it's dangling open, so you should be able to identify the fuses.

Before you start removing any fuses, take a photo of the fuse box so you can see what colour/rating fuse goes where.

Meanwhile, how do you know the panel has no power, rather than being dead? Stilo dashboards are known to go wrong (mine went, and the second-hand replacement I bought also went)... but they're fairly cheap to test/repair.

Thanks for your reply. I’ve checked every fuse in the panel by my right knee and they all look ok! I believe that a fuse has blown somewhere as this happened after attaching booster cables.

Check the fuses on top of the battery. I think one of those also plays a part in the services but I can't remember for sure.

Anyway, they're either under a cover on top of the battery, or more likely just on top of the battery (most of the covers go missing at they're £25 so never get replaced). Easy to check them.

Thanks Ralf. Are those the ones that look just like square and oblong blocks? If so, how do you get them out and how do you check them?

Thanks

Thanks again. I can’t get them out so I’ll take it to a garage.

There should be a yellow or white plastic tool to assist removing the small blade fuses. It's located at the bottom of the dashboard fuse box.
