Hi,

my Stilo dash board dead. :bang: Type is VP1FCF-10849-AAH, but I have type VP5FCF-10849-AG. Can I change VP5 to place of VP1. VP5 is bought from old car part reseller.

What has to be noticed?
It's needed to do some reprogramming or settings?

Thank You for any help

If the clocks is from a petrol and your car is a petrol, or the clocks are from a diesel and your car is a diesel, then stick the new clocks in there and they will 90% work.

The bit that won't work is the car odometer will flash, because the new clocks need to be synchronized with the body control module, which you can do if you have the diagnostic software.

If the clocks are from a petrol and your car is a diesel, or the clocks are from a diesel and your car is a petrol, they'll still 90% work, other than the needle will be pointing to the position on the rev-counter where the revs would be marked if the car had the correct clocks, not the revs shown on the face of the dial - since diesels have a lower rev spread than petrol but the dial is printed to use the same amount of degrees.

If your clocks VP5FCF don't work on the VP1FCF... then I'm not sure what needs tweaking.

You could get your old clocks repaired by yellowstilo on here, for not much money. That way your car will already recognize the clocks so you won't need to synchronize the clocks to the car.

My car is petrol 1.4 l, 5 doors, 2005, VP5 is petrol 1.6 l, 3 doors (hatchback?), 2007. So more ideas?

I have bought:
Fiat Stilo Workshop Manual from emanualonline, it's total crap! Far , far from the workshop manual. This is fa....g, some eLearn. Electric Learn? WOW:confused:

But, if this information what I can get, so there it is.

I have bought one book from haynes dot com (y) to other car. That was a workshop manual, good one. A long time ago. But, it was very good. How to disassemble the engine and stack back and other all, etc.

Still, I appreciate all the answers.

Old Stilo, cheap, more use value. Repair, total horror, expensive at workshop.

Have to try repair by own.

they all fail after time, better have them repaired because a second hand one might give you the same trouble (soon).....
i ask just 79 euro for the repair but shipping costs NL to UK are 13 euro, it's up to you...

If the clock you bought are new style - white clocks and nice font, and you have the old style, your outside temperature sensor will probably not work. But other than that there should be no problem

My first reaction was to replace my clocks with a second-hand set... but Yellow is correct.. the "new" ones failed within a few weeks of me fitting them. I thought my car was killing the clocks.. Ahhhh Ahhhh

My original clocks went AWOL in the post, so that's a hazard. I didn't insure them, since I thought that a second-hand set of clocks with 125,000 miles on them, that don't work could only be worth £5 and so nobody would steal them... but lesson learned.

Anyhow, my replacement clocks that only lasted a few weeks arrived there okay and Yellow even adjusted the mileage upwards a bit, to match the car.

They've done 80,000 miles more since the repair and no aggro' at all, apart from an MOT failure because the previous owner had shoved a piece of tissue into the ABS light socket and I didn't notice until the MOT rules changed to check that the light came one and then went out. I took it out and found that my car's ABS was actually okay and the light was working normally.

I did have to re-calibrate the odometer to the BCM, which required some cables and software... since the clocks were "foreign" to the car.. but with a Stilo, it's useful to have those anyway...

Outside temp. I can see and feel it! No problemos.
If it's one and only problem, I try VP5.
No hurry. Stilo in dock. One Croma running, other Croma is waiting spare part.

when my dashborad started to fail, I took it out, opened it and resolder all the solderings through hole.
