After a few weeks running about the new clutch and gearbox seem to be okay, seems strange to drive the car without any sound effects! It's like driving a new car and now the worry is gone I'm appreciating what a good drive the Stilo is. These cars are very underrated even by a lot of Fiat enthusiasts and I really don't understand why. Out of the 30 or so Fiats that I've owned this has got to be one of the best and the 3-door has certainly aged well in the looks department. The only thing left to sort on mine now is the feeble horn. I've looked at replacement ones on ebay but they all seem to have a different connector to my mine and don't look like they would fit in the small space in the wheelarch even though they all say they fit the Stilo. Anybody out there replaced the horn on their Stilo...? I'd appreciate any advice on this before I buy one, at least fitting it should be easy...

If you have the space, I can personally recommend a Stebel Nautilus. There is also the Stebel Nautilus Compact which is a slightly different design. Fiamm is also a decent brand and I think they do something similar.

These are properly loud horns and very in-keeping with Italian cars :). Loud = safety in my book ;)

You will need to follow a fairly simple diagram, take the power feed from the battery terminal and fit a relay which will come with the horn. Its also a good idea to fit it with an in-line fuse too.

STEBEL Nautilus link here

Shop around for a good price.

Also worth noting there are many 'copies' out there - but they're inferior and don't last too well although the Halfords version is ok - I had a Halfords one on my Jimny for years which went off-roading so got wet and muddy and still worked fine

+1 for the Nautilus. Makes your Stilo sound like a true Italian! You won't regret it.

P.S. When I fitted mine it was plug and play. No need for relays or extra fuses...

Thanks guys for the excellent advice... I've never heard of them before but they sound good, will definitely source a Stebel Nautilus next week...

I tried a Stebel (see my longer reply on your Clutch post) and it didn't last toooo long.... although longer than the "cheapo copy". The problem is the wheel arch liner slots let spray pass through, onto the horn .. and it doesn't like it.

On my old beast I've cable tied some aluminium gauze (car body repair stuff) onto the back of the liner, over the slots.. which lets air pass through (not sure why it needs to) but also intercepts a lot of mud/spray.

Currently I have a twin-disc type setup. They still get a bit wet but so far my biggest aggro' has been getting them to sound like I want.. :D

Where did you get your gwarbox from if you dont mind me asking? I've got a manual abarth and 4th gear is no more, so in time I will get a new box.

Hi, sorry but I've no idea where my local garage bought the recon gearbox for my Stilo... all I know is that it cost £660...
