Hey all.

Not a show stopper but my ventilation fan seems to have connection problems or similar.

It just won’t turn on most of the time. Then sometimes it comes alive mid drive. Or sometimes the air con will work and ventilation too then sometimes not. When they do come on it seems to be related to an issue with earthing, which I know is faulty on my JTD back lights. But even when I repair the earth issue the ventilation still bugs out.

Could it be a relay ? Or faulty fan ? When I put it to max ventilation it’ll sometimes work after a set time driving. Odd pattern.

Any help appreciated. It’s a 1.9 3 door 115hp JTD

I don't think it's the a/c.. When you turn that on, using the cabin button, it checks the system pressure is sufficient (the sensor is on the A/C condenser, underneath the horn, inside the bottom right-hand corner of the bumper) and if it's good, it activates the compressor clutch and turns the heater fan on inside the car (if it's off).

If the a/c doesn't always turn on the fan.. then that may be a "connection" (or earth) problem. There is probably a relay controlling the a/c activation of the fan, I hope.. and not the Body Control Module.. but I'm not sure.

If the a/c *always* turns on the heater fan (even when the rotary knob is "off") but the heater fan doesn't always come on when using the rotary knob, then the problem is more likely to be the rotary knob (fan) resistor which (in other cars) lives behind the rotary knob. I suspect Stilo has a similar arrangement.
