Hi,

Only had one non remote key, so I've tried to reprogram a couple of remote keyfobs from eBay with multiecuscan.

The remote control programming part was fine, but the transponders where not recognised when going through the process of programming the immobiliser part , had all three keys. Original plus the 2 eBay oned, only my original could be programed.

Heard somewhere that you need brand new transponders to reprogramming, so got a couple off eBay, these wouldn't work either.

EBay seller is now telling me they have to be precoded before I can program them. Something he never said before I got them.

Anyone shed some light on this?

I still only got one key, but I swapped the transponder into the remote fob, so at least I've got that.

Thanks phil

Yes the chip needs to be pre-programmed for your ECU. I asked at local locksmith and they wated I think 40-50€ for the whole key. I think that it was with a new chip and everything, but they wouldn't be so happy if you bring your own chip, I guess.
So I'll wait until I loose my key, then use immo bypass (in manual) and get a new transponder at the locksmith. Fow now I have just the key cut.

I'm going to send them back. Seller has agreed due to the misunderstanding.

I wouldn't mind, but read up on this in the Stilo section, and assumed that have multiecuscan software would be the answer.
But nobody seemed to mention the shortfall of the software.

So wonder what you need to precoded a transponder, or how much to just get a transponder coded?

Still, live and learn...

Yo Phil, you seem to be in the same place as me  https://www.fiatforum.com/stilo/479422-another-key-question.html

I'm waiting for the pandemonium to settle down then I'm going to a proper Auto Locksmith https://www.autolocksmiths.net/ to see what he suggests.

.

Crazy situation, with my old Ford you could just do it with the old key and the ignition switch.

I've now got one remote key all working fine, and two spare remote fobs with new cut blanks that open the car and turn the engine over, but just won't start the dam thing, lol

Could you elaborate on the "immo bypass (in manual)" for someone who hasn't got a manual?

Cheers in advance

The kit I use to pre-code fiat chips is part of a bigger package. Around 7K.
You can get cheap Chinese **** that may damage the vehicle but hopefully, post C-19, A re-set button will be pushed, society changes for the better and we all start to bye British (when possible).
