Hi I agree, iv had 4 Stilo Abarths now.I sold my last one 3 years ago changed to Audi A4 3.2
Iv just bought another Stilo Abarth 4 door with 14000 on clock 2003 would anyone know of a lower mileage one out there

Was that the Silver one on ebay recently? Haven't seen a 5dr Abarth on the road in a long time.

With the Sat Nav, it could still be worth trying a Fiat main dealer after the lock down is over. As I've had some success in the past getting older obsolete Fiat parts, if you can get them to do a Dealer search through the UK network.

Thank you for the advice I’ll wait till this terrible virus is finished and go that rout
Yes it was the one on eBay ,but the only thing that was as described was the engine and interior, the body work is a complete joke, i should of driven the 260 miles first to view. Its the worst repair and paint match iv seen,as well as the disc missing,I recon I’m going to spend easy £1000 putting it right

If you go that route (buying at the Dealers) you'll more likely spend £3,000 to put it right

That looks splendid. (y)

My cards are not too bad.. but the fabric is lifting away from the backing in a couple of places so I have wondered about a re-trim. But I though then the door cards would show up the state of the seats and the badly scuffed rear door plastics (obviously my car has been used to carry junk by a careless owner in the past) so I left it.. :D

Is the original fabric just glued to the plastic/cardboard part?

Ralf,

No it's not the fabric one, I bought a new leather material that was stretchy remember that was not specific for car interior use it was a material mostly used by carpenters for their needs but I modified it easily so the result is that shown on photos, who knows maybe in the future I'm going to repair seats also :)

If you need assistance just sen me a message,

Best Regards,

No problem and all the best with getting the Abarth sorted.

Some main dealers are more helpful than others, so if the first one you try isn't interested. Just try another one.

Thought I'd post up some more pictures of the progress on my sorry looking 2006 Stilo SW 1.6 Active.

As mentioned previously I managed to replace the split / damaged rear bumper a few months ago. After finding a scrapyard by chance, which had a Stilo SW in the same colour. So managed to buy the rear bumper and nearside doors, plus a decent boot carpet and replacement load cover as mine was missing.

Although being a secondhand part does mean it has various mark's and scratches. It has still improved the rear of the Stilo no end, along with the used light and new number plate. The rear bracket under the right rear light was also bent from the bump. Handly this is only a bolt on part. So was easily swapped over from the scrap donor car.

The nearside front bumper insert was also damaged too, but the breakers had already pulled the front bumper off and had left it dumped on floor. So as the insert was undamaged, I decided to buy that as well. Took a fair bit of effort to remove my old one without removing the bumper first, but was well worth the effort once fitted!

I was going to have the headlining to replaced the ruined one on mine, but unfortunately they had damaged it with a forklift. So I'm still looking for one and also some better condition seats. As I think mine are beyond saving.

Have also been busy cleaning and tidying the exterior as best I can for now. So I'll post up some more pictures on that soon.

I love old bangers like this though.. :D (y) Their value far exceeds the few quid they cost or the better than the ones it has got on it scrap parts thatyou fit to them cost.

The seats will come up spelendid if you use a pukka upholstery cleaner. Start with a cheap one.. then repeat after a few days with a better quality one.

Cheers I couldn't agree more.:) I've owned a fair few sub £250 cars in nearly 20 years of driving including Uno's and a Tipo, and everyone has given me many miles of happy/ cheap motoring.

Each one looked a 100 times better after a little tlc and a few inexpensive improvements from the breakers. An I'm certainly no mechanic! My last car I owned for 12 years before selling it on. As wanted an estate hence the Stilo SW.

Thank's for the advice regarding the seats. I've made a start on them with a decent brand upholstery cleaner as pictured below, but as you mentioned. I'll need to go over them again, hopefully that's tomorrow job.

I've got a spare Stilo SW roof lining, but it's for one with the opening roof. Can't see from your pics if your car has the opening roof or not.
.

Thank's for the offer, although just my luck I've got the none opening roof model.:(

Out of interest how difficult was it to remove the lining? As I've previously tried to remove one at a breakers. But found it difficulty getting it out without removing the B pillar and C pillar trims first. Which didn't go well as they appear to be rather brittle and broke, despite me using trim removal tools.

Best part was it wouldn't fit in the Car I went in on the day, as wasn't expecting to find one. So went back the following week in a Van to find someone else had brought it!

She's unhappy she isn't driving. Sprayed her wheels (sneakers hahaha) during lockdown(quarantine) with colour we had here at home.

Her body colour is nebula blue. Nebula blue is toyota fortuner colour.she use to be white.

She needs a new O2 sensor but now with no work there isn't money for anything. An O2 sensor doesn't come cheap since I still must pay for shipping. I must first wait for work to pick up after quarantine.

Otherwise, she turns heads and has one sexy look. Wherever I go I get people asking what car it is and have a look around and inside. She gets her fair share of attention because she isn't common my side of the world.

She growls because of her K&N filter.

Enjoy the pics

Hello all,

figured now would be as good a time as any to provide an update on my dads fiat stilo schumacher. The car is still going strong although it hasnt had to go through this years mot yet due to the outbreak.

Had a bit of a scare with the car as it was leaking oil for either a short time quickly or since it had its service at fiat. The cause of the leak was a loose oil filter which was a relief but still hard to believe the dealership couldnt put an oil filter on right . While we repaired this we also got a chance to get under the car and check everything over as it had advisories for rust/corrosion on the front subframe and rear axle as well the chassis but it was all surface rust thankfully and not something major.

Thank you!!

Her lambda is on its way out so that's my next change on her and she's due for new tyres

As you say fairly inexcusable for a dealer although...

1) They've probably not seen a Stilo in years and
2) The oil filter on the 5-cylinder is the most inaccessible of any car I've ever known.

I well remember the first time I did a DIY oil and filter change on my Schumy and it took me 10 minutes to actualy find the filter, it was so well hidden! Then of course the issue of what filter removal tool would work. Answer - hardly any!

Still a great engine though...

Know exactly what you mean haha, took an hour to find and access it and even longer to tighten it as we didnt have the tools.

Also does anybody know if to do a timing belt one of the engine mounts actually has to come out/be loosened as i find it hard to believe but with this engine it wouldnt surprise me?
