My Drivers side heated seat and drivers wing mirror heater aren't working (passenger side is fine)

anyone know if these are possibly connected ? or where to start looking ?

when i switch on the seat heater the little light comes on but the seat doesn't heat up.

I would suggest with the seat it's probably the switch itself because if it was a fuse it wouldn't work at all (no light would come on). On the mirror is there a chip in it? Mine doesn't work either & I think it's because there's a little chip in it which is probably breaking the circuit. I must get a new mirror glass.

checked all fuses - the fuse box in the boot is a B*stard to get to and is roughly opposite to what is shown in the handbook - but the fuses are even in different locations! so checked them all just in case, what a laugh that is.....

No chips in mirror, just wondered if they could be connected somehow because they both stopped working and both on drivers side only...

Grovelled around looking under the seats and on both drivers and passengers the plastic 'cable guard' thingy has been pulled off (I assume by something being left on the floor when the seats were moved) but I can't find any disconnected wires. anyone know what connectors to check under there ?
