General Abarth with performance issues..Can't figure it out.

To check it i just unpluged the evap pipe and made it shut its on the left side in the motor bay by inlet manifold and by oil meter. Youll see a black pipe with connection that comes from under the car and goes under inlet manifold.

Made it shut? Like manualy or something?

I just put some rubber cap in it and on the pipe till i got a new filter for evap system

Ok, so to be clear, you just block the pipe with a cap (assuming the part where the connector pops on to). Wouldn't that affect the performance? And are the filters expensive? I would like to replace it, just to be sure..

Regards
Robert

Well i didnt ride like that for long it was just for test purposes although performance was good with evap system disconnected.
Fiat dealer (P.J.Peeters ) quoted me 185 ex for a new one, although you can find some of them on onderdelenlijn, its koolstoffilter .

Hi

I think that my performance problems are gone. I did some big changes on my Abarth. First of all I put some injector cleaner in fuel tank. After that I drive it couple of days and after that my engine improved a little. Couple days ago I found Selespeed ecu on ebay and that ecu was modified by Madeno racing team. In manual mode it doesn't change gear when I reach 6400rpm. I must change gear manually but ecu limit is 6750 so when it reach that rpm limiter is engaged and engine is stuttering at that rpm (that is normal behavior when you reach the top rpm). After putting modified selespeed ecu my kangarooing problem are gone and I drive my car very smooth like never before. This monday Kess V2 interface come from aliexpress. I have spare engine ecu so I managed how to clone my original ecu to spare. When I switch ecus car started without problems. After that I found maps for my Abarth and put new map with "183HP" and 7500rpm limit. After that modifications my Abarth is driving like never before, silky smooth gear change with lots of power. It is so funny to drive this car now and makes me smile finally.

If you can and would like to flash your ecu with modified map file here is my file that I use it. You can flash it without danger because it is tested. Your key code and crucial data is on another file that is stored in eeprom and you can not erase that eeprom with software for upload maps. eeprom is 1KB and flash is 512kb

Hello,

Is it possible to have the contact you had for the selespeed ECU ?

Hi Guys,

It's been a while since I posted, but now om back again with some updates. So a couple of weeks ago disaster struck. I was driving around a bit and came across some fast audi's and volkswagens, so I thought; What the heck.. Pedal to the metal haha! So as I was flooring it (still with the same performance issues), we approached a junction. But when I wanted to shift down.. Nothing happend.. So I looked to my dash, and there it was... The red image of death. So with some luck (cause it will go into neutral when it comes to a halt), I managed to get the car to a parking lot without having to stop.

After some diagnoses with MES, it turned out to be the (don't know the English word for it) Automatic clutch sensor that is Hydrolic.

So I got the car to my mechanic, and replaced that one, and I requested to renew the clutch itself. Wich turned out to be completely worn!! It was almost metal on metal!

So I've got the Abarth back now, and It's faster than ever! Still some minor issues, but I think this was the main problem of my performance issues.

Cheers guys, and thanks for the help!

Hi mdrazic, can you put both map files for selespeed and for ecu, thanks. :)

Hi mdrazic, where are you find this map files (engine) ? It's really OK to flash it with no danger ?
Your car are full origin or you have custom engine parts ?
( sorry for my english, i'm french :D )

I post my ECU configuration, i find it with MES.

My English is not so good also, I am from Croatia. :)

Before I sold my Abarth I had 2 ecu's so I have spare ecu just in case of any troubles. When I start to experiment, I removed my original ecu and clone software from original to second ecu. As I cloned my original ecu (eeprom and map with kkl and kess) than everything was fine and as original but number of programing times goes up by one digit. This is normal because ecu counts number of programing times so you don't need to bother with that detail. Collection of maped files I got from my friend because he does chip tuning long time ago and stop doing this years ago but he saved all what he has during that period of time. Maped files for Stilo are dated from 2001 to 2003. All that files are 100% correct and tested. I tested several files and all of them appears to be functional and safe. After all of that flashing procedure I choose file with 182HP and rev limiter set on 7500rpm. I got modified selespeed ecu so I can use that rpm limiter. Original selespeed ecu start to shift gears arround 6400rpm or similar.

My car was in original state but exaust was more opened (no second catalytic converter, middle and rear exaust are more opened), shock absorbers are 30mm lower and air filter was BMC CDI box (K&N or BMC or similar or even you can use your original filter but need to change it more often). Before I sold my car than I replaced BMC with original without any noticable change of power. All other part are original. After I put new map car was more live than before. Up to 3000rpm there was no big difference except torque but after 3000-3500rpm engine start to produce more power and hits rpm limit much more faster. If you drive your car as usual than almost nothing is changed but when you drive it more aggressive than it start to show its new face. Average consumption was as original when you drive it normal. You can do that even on your desk as I do it on my second ecu and connect external power supply.

Your HW and SW numbers are ok, my SW numbers was little older than yours but everything is fine. If you have kess or mpps or galetto interface with working software you can put that 7500rpm.bin file without any problems but before you do than you must make backup of your original just in case something goes wrong. When I flash my ecu with kess I do than on my car but disconnect 2 big connectors from ecu, connect supplied connectors from kess, connect kess to battery and do that job by myself.

Hi mdrazic,

Ok, so, we can talk in our Level of english ?
You have another map files for the stilo or just the 7500rpm and 182hp ?

On my car, i have the KN Typhoon air filter, and i have Also, like you, -30mm with eibach springs.

For the backup, the «*read*» fonction of kess do the job or not ?
Can-i flash directly with obd ? Because i just bought the kess interface, but not ktag or other cable. It’s ok for me ?

I would connect a battery charger on the car when i do the operation.

I have several map files for abarth and you can test it with no trouble when I post it.

Read function is ok for backup of your original map. You must connect one pin on ecu connector to gnd to enable boot mode for your ecu and after that you can use obd mode but you got tons of cables with kess and one cable with switch on it is ideal for stilo ecu so simply disconnect two connectors and follow diagram and procedure in ksuite software. Kess is all you need for flashing maps on your ecu.

Flashing procedure is very fast on stilo so you don't need any charger. You don't need to put you car key also because you must disconnect two ecu connectors. It is very simple.

Ok ok, it’s look like simple ?

sorry for the questions, but I prefer to be sure, because I don't have another ECU available ?

I would Like to save my eeprom, and after my research, I understood that I needed the Me7eeprom program with a kkl cable, is that correct?

Another map would be Nice because i Don’t have the selespeed modified ecu, so my rpm Don’t go to 7500rpm ?

Thanks a lot for your knowledge man ?

If you need to load new map into your ecu than all you need is kess with ksuite software that you have it. KKL cable with me7eeprom is for cloning eeprom but you don't need that for loading maps. Me7eeprom if for read and write eeprom that consist imobiliser, mileage and other basic data of your car but maps are stored in another memory chip and you access it with kess or similar interface. Kess have recover function in case that something goes wrong than it can resume and repeat write process.

Here is my colection of maps for stilo abarth. Files with *.ori extension are original maps with no modification and files with *.mod extension are modified maps.

in fact, I want to save my eeprom just as a precaution, for a possible ecu crash one day ^^
Ok, i will flash your map with kess, but not with obd, it's ok ? With pin and crocodile clip for enter in boot mode ?

Already, Thanks for your stilo abarth archive, it's really cool.
But do you know what are the difference between each map ? All is 182 hp, or there are also eco map ? Crackel map ?

Another questions, it's normal that there is an stilo abarth folder, into stilo abarth folder , or it's a mistake ? :D

Thanks mdrazic, you're top (y)

I sold my kess but as I rember everything is included in the box. When you start ksuite than it will show you schematics how to connect kess interface with cable to your stilo ecu. With me7eeprom and kkl interface you can read your eeprom and use it on other ecu if you burn yours (don't be scared, it is just in case something goes wrong with yours but everything will be fine). You must disconnect your ecu than connect pins 15, 16, 32, 47 and 48 to positive 12V (+12), pins 20, 24, 25, 49 to negative (gnd) and pin 53 to K-line of kkl interface. Pin 20 is boot pin enable so it must be connected to gnd during whole procedure. You can use external battery (as I use it on my desk) or car battery or external power supply but no lower than 10-11V during load.

All of that maps are 182-185HP so basically you will no see any difference in power, only rpm and range of power that your map deliver. I used 7500rpm and it was ok for me so don't bother to much with others. I think that I made copy of my files so that is why you have two stilo abarth folders.

Hi mdrazic,

I received my kess cable and I flashed your 7500rpm file, and it's really great! I can feel the difference in torque, and after 3000rpm, the car goes like a bullet, even the engine noise changes! the noise is very sporty! Thank you very much for your help and for your files. I just have one question, I saw in your archive that there is a file with the extension ".mi2 8100rpm". Does the .mi2 mean "stage 2 reprog" or not at all?
