Dear All,
I thought i'd share an issue I've had with my Stilo dashboard. It went wrong some time ago, it started doing strange things like flickering on/off erratically and then went completely blank. I removed it from the car to check the obvious things but couldn't see anything visually wrong so I decided to use a company fairly local to myself called ACTronics of Colchester who specialise in repairing car electronics, dashboards being one of them. For 160 pounds I got my dashboard back and it worked fine, they had even managed to keep the mileage correct. This was sometime back now approx 1 year. They give you a 2 year warranty. Unfortunately about a month ago it went completely blank again and so, as still under warranty I sent it back to them and they fixed it for the second time. This time they couldn't save the mileage but never mind. However what they could tell me was that the first failure as down to weak soldered joints on the pcb, the second time it was corrosion which had caused the failure as the lacquer on the pcb had failed and moisture had got it and caused a short. I decided to check where this moisture was coming from and found that at the back of the bulkhead from inside the car where the dashboard slots in, you can see part of the metal frame of the vehicle and mine was covered in condensation. This is where the moisture forms and can then over time ingresses into the dashboard. To over come this I used 3 silica gel packs approx 100mm x 50mm and placed them into the opening so would sit behind the dashboard once refitted into the car. Easy to do and I hope will stop this happening again. I did wonder why Fiat had not insulated behind there better in the first place to be honest? Anyway, second time lucky!!

Must be the time of year -- My STILO has now started to leave the orange backlight behind the mileage display partly on even when the car is parked. I will start a new thread on the issue. Anyone have recommendations for a repairer.

Tap up Yellowstilo. He's a Dutch member of this forum... just you have to ship your unit to Holland which sounds more expensive/complicated than it is. He'll be cheaper than the internet.

He fixed my spare set (originals went missing in the post... so track your parcel) and set the mileage to the correct mileage.. although my car had a higher mileage than the new clocks. Mileage can only be adjusted upwards.
