Hi everyone! :)

I bought this 1.6 Stilo from 2002 knowing it had some small electronic problems which im planning to fix. 238.000 km on the clock but it had it's maintenance and the engine sounds like new.
Got a 1.6 station that's been running without problems for over a year now so they can be reliable cars if you give good care!!!
Already repaired most simple problems like a non working radio and interior lights but i have some problems with a failure i can't get rid off.

The failure im getting is the notorious ABS FAILURE followed by a ASR FAILURE.
The ASR button next to the city button turns on and off and the display also says on/off. So i guess it still works?

I did a ecu scan using Torque and deleted the old errors on the ECU. I started the engine and the ABS/ASR failure returned. ( They didnt go away when i deleted the faults ). Checked the ECU again for faults but no faults were found?? (n)

I do NOT get other errors like most people with this problem like loose connection/car security etc etc.

What i have done so far :

-Cleaned the fuse box + fuses
-Cleaned the earth points on the battery , ECU and chassis/next to the battery. ( black plastic box ). Almost no corrosion/dirt.
-Cleaned the D4 and other connectors with Kontakt60.
-Took the instrument cluster out and checked for bad solder. Replaced 220uf cap as it started to bulge.
-Checked the ECU , no problems there but did reflow the solder just to make sure.

The battery is a 60AH Magneti Marelli? There is no date stamp on it but i guess it is from 2008. There is a small sticker with a serialnumber that looks like a week/month/year ending on 08.
The garage measured it with a special device for battery's and says the battery is fine but can and do they measure the capacity??

Anyone got a idea where to look next or is it the battery?

my 1.6 doesn't have ASR, but I guess (as we are fly-by-wire with open diff) it cuts throttle when slippage occurs.
How does it sense slippage? I think it is rotation sensors on the front hubs. These also check for locked brakes though I'm not sure how it knows both wheels are locked rather than the car is stationary.
However, a fault with a sensor, or the wiring to a sensor, would likely cause both systems to show an error.

Thanks for the reply.

Will check the wires first. Already bought a ABS sensor but i need to figure out which wheel gives the problem.
