can anyone help me out with some info.... I have to change my oil pump and I'd like to know what is the part number or OEM number, I've seen photos on the web and it looks very similar to the oil pump from 1.9 jtd and the Alfa Romeo 147 can the pumps be the same as the one from the 1.8 16v?

There is a good chance that the 1.8 uses some parts from the 1.9 JTD... they're similar sized engines and the same age. Fiat could use an existing part rather than inventing a new one.

But if you can post the last 8 digits of your chassis number, someone can look up the actual part number, to make sure.

zfa19200000198229 is the chassis code of the car

The oil pump is 60665645 although this may have been superceded by a newer number, as Fiat re-organise their parts now and again.

If you see 60816944 then that should also fit.

This pump looks like it might be a tricky one to find. I had a look at Barchetta and Bravo/a 1.8's and even the Alfa T/Spark engine to see if they used the same pump but those cars seem to use a different pump to the Stilo. I didn't find any other model of Fiat or Alfa that used the same pump .. but my ePer doesn't have all the search facilities possible.

thank you for the information, do you have any suggestions on where I can find it besides ebay?

60665645 according to ePer was fitted to the following models:

Fiat Stilo (2001-2003)
Fiat Stilo (2003-2007)
Alfa Romeo X1 156 (2001-2005)
Alfa Romeo X2 GT (2003-2010)

Hope this helps a bit more.

That's useful!

The 156 and GT 1.8 has the same pump BUT only after 2002. The earlier 1997-2001 versions use a 60628668. This may be identical to 60665645 apart from some really minor differences which the Stilo doesn't care about (the modification was called "Paired oil pump, sump and dipstick") but it might be different enough to not fit or work properly.

So kokkolin you need to find a 2002 onwards (facelifted) 156, if you decide to look for a second-hand pump.

I had a look on eBay and nobody is breaking one (though these guys have a pre-facelift with presumably the older pump);

found a second hand oil pump on Wednesday i ll get it, does the bolt from the crankshaft have some special features I should know about it before I unscrew it?

is there a specific way of blocking the pulley, or could I use something?

Remove the small cover plate on the gearbox bell housing, then fit the flywheel locking tool.

hello guys, I've managed to buy the oil pump for my stilo 1.8 16v, after I've dismantled it to verify all the components I've stumbled upon dilemma, E-learn says that the height of the spring from the oil pressure relief valve should have 36 mm in height, but mine has 50 mm, could someone explain how is that possible?
PS : the oil pump is a second hand one and it ran ok on that motor.

Is the 50mm spring the one in the new pump, or your old one?

If you have access to eLearn, it may be worth having a look at the other models of Fiat or Alfa that have the same or a related (1.8 petrol) engine, to see if you can find one that says the spring is 50mm.

That way you'll know what engine your pump came from and how different it is. It sounds like "not going to fit/work" at the moment.

Or, if you can't find any model that has a 50mm spring, then *maybe* eLearn has the wrong size listed. If there's no 36mm spring on anything and you think eLearn might be wrong then it'll be worth dismantling your pump to see what length spring that has.

the pump I've bought has the 50 mm spring in it, I didn't managed to remove mine from the engine yet, e learn says it has to 36 mm, I'm going to measure the spring from my pump also, and compare the two measurements, it odd because the pump I've bougd is from the same engine like mine

I'd suppose eLearn was usually accurate.. but you never know. It'll be interesting to see what length spring your pump has.

Ralf S.
hello, I've managed to get the oil pump out and the spring on this is also 50mm long, I guess that this is the right length. also I'd like to change the hydraulic tappets or clean them, do they need to be soaked in oil after that or should I install them "dry"

do they need to be soaked in oil after that or should I install them "dry"

Add a couple of drops of oil inside before installing them back.
I dismantled mines with an air compressor and putted them inside an ultrasonic cleaner.
Watch for the oil still inside the lifter, it will burst out when you put air in. I did a huge mess the first time :p
