Hi All,

Anyone know any fiat service centres who will email a key code if I send ID / V5C. Best quote I have now is £30 but I will have to go to Serv centre.

Sturgess used to do it but the parts manager moved on and they don't seem to honor it anymore.

Typically they do want to see ID and V5 as you point out and only the dealers have access to Retainer Group - which is who hold the code. It's worth adding that it's pretty much an instant thing, so it's not like you have to surrender your car to the dealer. It's an automated process for the dealer, they login to the Retainer Group site, submit the request digitally, it takes a few mins to process and they download the digital PDF with the code on it. You'll be in and out in 15 mins.

I ended up paying £30 plus VAT for my key code from my local dealer. It does sound like (and probably is) a lot of money for a four digit code and five mins work but in the grand scheme of things it's not that bad.

I look at it this way; my remote dropped it's coding and so I bought a second one to upgrade my non-remote key to a remote key. You have to program all remotes to the car at the same time, so makes sense to program two if you're going to program one.

That way for about £45 i effectively got myself a second working remote control key all programmed up, which as car keys go is actually pretty cheap.

The last key I had programmed before that was for my Audi A8 and is a dealer only job, £280+VAT for the key, plus £60+VAT for coding.
