I have decided to purchase a new door lock for my 3dr Stilo. I rang Part's Gateway / Stone acre and they wanted £200 for a new one.

I tried to call shop4parts in Bradford but it's gone dead on the phone and the website is down.

Anybody else that I could call?

Are you referring to the boot one or the actual door?

Saw a few on ebay for the door... pain in the arse of a job to fix... i started a job on my old stilo and got the point where i realised the glass has to come out. Then read horror stories of the clips breaking or the glass breaking so i stopped and put it all back together...

If its the boot... the very simple but not sure on availability.

Is your barrel still ok? If so... buy a cheap lock and key set... some have door mechanisms too... just use the mechanism and keep your own barrel in place.

I was thinking about the door lock mechanism just below the door handle. Mine gets stuck in the freezing weather and hence me wanting to swap it for a new one.....

Cool... there not that expensive.
Can you spray it up with wd40?

Mine used to do the opposite.
Stick open in hot weather... pain in the arse...the multijet doesnt do it though thankgod.

So I have decided to try and fix the door today. I have got this far, but it's still fixed on somewhere? Any ideas? Is it the pop rivets? Please feel free to highlight on the photo where I am going wrong ?

I dunno how the Stilo inner panel is bolted to the door... but if you can't lift the trailing edge away from the door that might suggest the panel is bonded to the door with some sealant. You may just need to poke something under the panel and lever it away from the door (at least enough to see if there is any sealant underneath). When you re-fit you would just need to replace (or "top up") the sealant... use some regular silicone or instant gasket type stuff (or the stuff the plumber uses around the bath.. same stuff).

If the panel lifts up at the edges but is still hanging on to the door then you may need to remove the motor and ECU thing.. they may bolt through onto the door frame underneath. Just loosen the bolts and see if that makes a difference.

My bet is; both of the above. Bolts AND a sealant.

If I take off the window motor, is that on a belt that attaches to the window? And do the rivets hold the window mechanism on or just the panel? LOL I don't know what to expect.....

I have got the door stuff now and the door lock mechanism has gone tits up. I now need a new one but I need some help please.

1. I need to know the part number for the lock.

2. I also need to know if I need to reprogram the new mechanism to the car?

Cheers Lee

Electric windows are not a NODE on the CAN, so don't need programming.

If you want to PM me your VIN and say which door lock you need, I'll try to get the part number for you.
.

I have found out the part number for the door lock mechanism and ordered it.

Does the door lock mechanism need to be programmed then? I have MES if required.
