Fiat Stilo ECU change error

Hello everyone

First just to let you know im new here so bear with me.

My problem is that i have bought a Stilo 1,6 from 2002.
After a while it startet shutting down and writing errors on just about everything.
After trying everything I read here that the ECU could be the problem. And indeed it was.
So I read all the forums I could find and ended up exchanging my 5nft1 to an 5nft9 ECU whitch I have read here schould be okay.

Here's my problem.

After changing it the engine starts and runs perfectly BUT all lights are on in the dashboard. Even the immobilizer is constantly on even when driving.
I have followed the instructions given with the ECU but nothing helps.
It like the dashboard has no connection to the ECU.

Enyone that can tell me if the ECU is defect or is this a fault from my side.

Did you do a Proxi alignment after putting in the new ecu so it learns what it is talking to ?

Re: Fiat Stilo ECU change error

How do i do that?
In the instructions it said I should mount it and put it to ignition, then i should depress the clutch and start the engine. After this i let it heat up and then rev the engine to 5000 for 2 seconds 3 times.

Which software do I need in order to do the Proxy alignment?
Is there any free software or do I need Multiecuscan?

Multiecuscan and the correct cables can do it, but check to see if your local garage can do it first or even explain the problem to the seller of the ecu and see what they suggest as they might have come across this problem before (best to ask before spending any money).

Proxy align would have been my first thought too....

Okay so I have now contacted the seller and they also mentioned proxy alignment.
My local workshop would like to help but doesn't have the equipment to do so. Can a Fiat dealership do this cheap or is my best chance to do it with Multiecuscan.

Last helping hand for now
Do you have any links to the correct cable and the best site for buying Multiecuscan.

Multiecuscan is 50 euros direct from guy who makes it, you'll need a laptop and cables:

http://www.multiecuscan.net/

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ALFA-FIAT-...sAAOSwGOZTxWZ2

Fiat could do it but it won't be cheap and if you own MES (MultiEcuScan) you can then do all your own fault codes and change settings on some things etc.

Just MAKE SURE you model/engine is listed on the MES website BEFORE buying !!

Re: Fiat Stilo ECU change error

I would go with the MultiECUScan option personally.

It might be a little bit more expensive than the dealership, although the software costs roughly what an hours labour would here in the UK, so there is very little in it.

Of course even once you're finish you'll always have the software and the cable, just in case anything crops up in the future - so you're saved from the hands of garages and dealers should anything else happen.

@Racercmus
I agree with Artermis and Zewolf, Use Multiecuscan.
I've bought from the sellerer Zewolf linked to, but don't think they post outside the UK. Look for a similar set on your local ebay or Amazon. Make sure it says modified for Multiecuscan, the very cheap ones from China have a design fault.
Note for your car you can connect to the ECU with the unregistered (free) version of MES so you can make sure everything works before you pay the €50 registration fee. Proxialignment need the registered version.

I would suspect if it's been bought from a specialist it's either been virginised or had the immobiliser removed. Lets face it, with the immobiliser light on the dash the thing shouldn't be running.....

Re: Fiat Stilo ECU change error

I will write when I have tried it but I need to get the cables. Unfortunately a seller on Ebay never sent it and would not reply after I bought it, so it will have to wait a bit.

My ECU was bought from a firm called ATP in UK.
