So then guys,

The trip to Portugal went as good as can be.
Im now back and all is back to normal...

Since returning i have had to fix a puncture, returned to LBA to collect my car from Sentinal and it had a flat tyre, luckily the guy parked next to my car had an electric pump so i pumped it up and refilled at the nearest garage.

When returning home, on closer inspection - there was a huge screw right in the dead centre of the tread - paid a £5er for it drilling and plugging as a temp fix, all is well for now.

Now onto the goodies.

On the 24th of this month, buying these.

4x new glow plugs

4x Brand new 17" alloys are being ordered, £299.99 + £29.99 delivery (http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/371996923000)

3dr wind deflectors
http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/FIAT-STILO-...%3A4b00e45d15d0ab6b44402bfbffe63806%7Ciid%3A4

4x uniroyal rainsport 3's in 215/45/17 91 Y

1x Stebel Nautilius Compact to replace the one thats not working.

........

Next month will be buying a front bumper, hose / mounting kit to relocate intercooler and air filter housing, front splitter, possibly new side skirts and a lowering kit.

Thought i would go uniroyal rainsport 3's for wet grip / price and chose a 91y, would if preferred a 87y but they dont make these tyres in that rating, as i understand - anything higher than manufacturer recommends is ok as its a stronger rated tyre, but anything lower is not good for tolerances so i should be fine as stock is rated 87v. Thoughts welcome.

Watch this space :).

Nice. Shiny new wheels :)

Just note that the wind deflectors you link to are for the five door model!

Never been a fan of the rainsport tyres personally. Personally I'd go for the Avons. They're cheaper, rated just the same and crucially they're 2db quieter. That of course adds up to 8db of sound across all 4 corners - which doesn't sound like a lot until you have to listen to it constantly on ya drive to work!

LOL - silly me, dont worry - it was just a link to reference it.
I will more than likley be buying ClimAir ones, or OEM ones - depends on the price, i will only buy the team hecko ones if i have no choice or if anyone can comment on them.

LOL - which Avon's are these? - i really dont want to fork out over £300 on tyres this time round, if there cheap enough - i may even buy the tyres at the same time as the wheels, if not then they will have to wait in the shed for a month until i buy the new tyres.

I was also looking at these - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Set-of-Fo...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649

But unsure if they are white and I am unable to find a picture of a stilo with them on to see how it would look.

I would hazard a guess that they're silver. I dont think they were produced in white and is probably just an overly flashed / over exposed picture. You can always ask the seller the question too, of course.

If you just want some budget tyres - which personally I dont think carry nearly the same risk or stigma as they used to - then go on something like black circles or asda tyres and get shopping.

You've got the tyre ratings to make the decision on which is best for you in terms of price, efficiency and wet grip (oh and noise).

The last tyre I bought for my car was a budget from national tyres and autocare. I'd bought a goodyear for it the week before but got a nail through the wall 3 days later. Could afford another goodyear, so had to plumb for the cheaper option and this was the only tyre with puncture insurance on it - just in case it happens again.

It hasn't killed me yet either!

I was just a bit worried since the last set of tyres i bought on the 1.2 stilo where half worn after 6 months and toast after the 1st year... that was budget tyres, a softer compound with very little - even in the 1.2 which couldn't achieve a burn out, unless you where in the wet lol.

I'll have another look next monday at the prices, with having a heavier car (diesel) and that much power, i want it to grip, stop and not eat the rubber like the old 1.2 did, im also having the wheel alignment done on the hunter system too :)

So then guys

Glow plugs arrived yesterday, nothing else did.

Wheels have been paid for, should be here tomorrow and if u look on ebay... no more sets remaining, looks like i bagged the last set of active sporting wheels which remind me of the fiesta zetec s alloys but bigger and less complex.

Tyres, awaiting prices from a colleagues dad who runs a tyre place, asked for avons in 215/45/17 xl.

Waiting on plusgas and laserline 9mm glowplug swivel socket.

Engine cover is off ready to crack on spraying and cleaning tomorrow (hope the two bits arrive nice and early so i have time for the plusgas to get working)

Fingers crossed guys

Edit: forgot to add.. wind deflectors and horn might be hold... depending on other things have cropt up!

Glow plugs replaced and it was **** easy, no need to remove anything other than the leads that plug on top.

All that was needed was a deep 9mm 1/4 drive, 1/2 adapter and two 4 inch length 1/2 drive extensions to help get to the plugs with stuff in the way (number 3 and 4) dead simple and no plusgas required... they where hand torqued and cane free very easy with no snapping noises... tightened up to about the same.

Warning still appeared on instrument cluster but has since stopped since the codes where cleared again.

Glow plug 1 was the worst, very black and sooted compared to the rest, will post pics later.

Saved myself £50 at the garage, at the expense of a days holiday off work and the beauty of spending some time with my daughter and chance to treat the misses to a nice meal out... well chuffed

Tools required and pics of old glow plugs, they where beru... german... think you can tell which one was dead!

Glad you got it sorted, lad! One certainly looks a bit darker than the rest haha.

You know how to test glow plugs, with a set of jump leads, right? That's good fun :)

Looking forward to seeing your new wheels coming on too!

Aye - saved myself £50, took the misses out last night:slayer:

I had read about testing them, still got them in the shed so i might have a muck about tomorrow or on the weekend - something for my son to try :)

New wheels should be here today, im debating what to do though - cant really afford the new rubber this month, other things have come up, do i just get the rubbers swapped over onto them or do i wait?

Shouldn't have taken the misses out. ;)

Probably costs £10 a wheel to change the tyres and re-balance them, then the same again when you get the new ones........... wait.

Cant not take the misses out... even though i got drunk and ruined it :(.

Anyhow, mini meet with #Yorkshire007 went well, top bloke, knows his stuff and has a beautiful stilo :)

I forgot to take some pics of your car, arghhhh!!! Nevermind, here is a pic of mine after the mini detail, very impressed and will defo have you back over to do a full job when the new wheels have been fitted.

That's ok dude, I am sure that once everything goes on to the car it will all come together. The wheels looked great.

Enjoy the car and a longer detail will bring up everything even better.

I would take the wheels down to National Tyres and purchased the tyres from them too. They have a internet shop called tyreshopper.co.uk . The Barum tyres are fitted to the girlfriends car, and they have a fantastic DOT wear rating, of 367. This means that they will do a easy 20,000 miles of normal driving. Also pretty good in snow if driven carefully. The price you see on the tyreshopper site is fully fitted drive away.

I have that horn fitted, I just ran the wires from the new horn to the current horn wiring and contected them together. If you have the bumper off you can mount it to the side of the plastic headlight cover, by the front grill.

Well guys, i couldnt wait any longer.

Kept staring at the car and really wanted my new wheels on... so i dug into my pocket and googled the number for my colleagues dads tyre place (Tyremaster, hey street, bradford) was quoted £75 for tyres swapping over, 4 new valves and two fronts balancing along with tracking on an italian system called fasep or something (see the pics)

I was feeling some torque steer under full throttle with full boost... but also some pulling to the right along with an uncentered steering wheel.

No longer pulling / drifting to the right but the centering of the steering wheel is off to the left a few degrees now... going back tomorrow or next weekend to have it re-done... i still get a pull to the right when under full boost.. i assume it's torque steer but no way near as bad as before... see pics attached.

Ill also look into dot rating as a main factor too... the last set i bought on the 1.2 where 50% worn in 6 months... seriously! Soft rubber and where an advisory on the next mot... thankfully i upgraded to my beloved mj.

Another thing learnt today... rear pads are down to about 1mm... maybe less (oh feck no) so will be doing a complete disc and pad overhaul next month... need to price up some good pads, good discs, then seals etc for the caliper sliders along with grease etc, i figure that since im changing discs and pads - might be a good idea to refirb the easy stuff, all brake flexis look brand new so might aswell spruce up the rest (if needed).
