Have you checked the cam belt for cracks between the teeth or even better service history? They are usually replaced at the same time as the aux belt. If your aux belt and cam belt are similar age you are running on (very) borrowed time.

Note how the strands of old belt are wound around the pulleys.

Cut the old belt away.

From under the car put a suitable spanner on the tensioner pulley and use a jack to lift it up. You might need to loosely wrap the belt over the tensioner before fitting the spanner.

When you jack it up the pulley will compress the tension spring allowing you to wrap the belt around all of the pulleys. Lower the jack and job done.

If you have better access you can do the job without the jack but most home mechanics will need it as a third hand.

If the aux belt shredded on the cam belt side check none of the bits ended up in with the cam belt- this can lead to all sorts of problems including Cam belt failure.

thank you guys, the belt has been changed with no issues, apart from i had to remove the aircon belt 1st to put on the new aux belt, manged to do it, thanks for your help :)

Kind Regards
Dom.....
