Merry Xmas everyone, I'm in need of some help! Thanks in advance for all your assistance in advance.

The car is a Fiat Stilo

My Key fob is not working. This started after I replaced the battery, the red light still flashes when the buttons are pressed but the remote lock/unlock mechanism doesn't work. I've tried the following:

1. Replaced the fuse (I got the fuse number from this wonderful site)
2. Disconnected the car battery for 30mins
3. Followed the instructions suggested as per using the non-remote key

I've read on here that I might need to do a recode and I think I have the code from the previous owner but I am yet to come across the car recode procedure online, I would not attempt it for fear of breaking something so I'm a bit sceptical about doing this myself. Please if anyone out there has some advice, please help me. Thanks.

Hey,

I had this problem, it started a few weeks back - i locked the car at work and then couldnt unlock it with the fob, i had to break in as my door lock and boot lock barrel's are knackered and need replacing.

Anyhow - if you buy MES (multi ecu scan) and a cable kit - then your nearly there...

You will need to call a Fiat dealer for a list of your car security codes, these are held on the ISR database and will be requested from Retainagroup, the dealer will charge you for this, i recommend speaking to Sean at Sturgess Cars parts department, he got me mine for £12.50 + vat, so £15 and it was done via email - very fast service, codes returned with 30mins.

Once you have codes, mes and licence, cable kit - you can re-learn the remote fob, there is no need to worry about mucking anything up - if you enter the security code for ecu wrong 3 times, it will lock you out for 30mins then allow access again after 30mins.

Learning the key is a simple procedure and you can simulate the procedure without the car connected so you can learn the procedure.

I also enabled the indicators to flash when locking and unlocking the car, this is disabled by default in UK cars but can enabled with MES and the car security code.

If you need any help then give me a shout.

Also, the only other part you can muck up your car with is the immobiliser function, if you reprogram the immobiliser and dont do it right - you wont be able to start your car so dont mess with this part, just do the remote learning function.

If your in west yorkshire, then im in bradford and can do it for you if you buy the car security codes :) - takes around 1min to do it.

Thanks Guys, this is great help which I really appreciate. I'll get onto it right away. Thanks.

And I'll let you know how it goes.

Quick question though, What is the price of the MES+Cable Kit package? is it right that I'm being quoted 230Euros?

As Davren has already said, check my post he linked to.

Also, if you want to get your key tested for a signal before purchasing then go to your nearest timpsons store and they will check to see if it's emitting a signal when buttons are pressed, all stores have the key tester.
