Having looked at ePER and trawled around does anyone know if the front subframe for the 1.9JTD MW is the same as the petrol? Local breakers have petrol MWs but no diesels.

My subframe has rusted through at the front and has had welding done by previous owner(s). It has come from a part of the country where they are liberal with the salt in bad weather!!

The JTDs have a completely different set of part numbers for the "crossrail" as they call it in ePer.

I would therefore play it safe and suggest that unfortunately find one from a compatible diesel. Note also that the CF4 diesels (which will be later model stuff) also have a different part number compared to the earlier diesels.

Here is your ePer page if you want to view more:

Thanks for the reply. Having looked at ePER I saw the numbers were different although they use the same illustration.

I will carry on hunting - may have to go nationwide!!

Thanks for the links - found a later JTD with a blown engine and good subframe which I have had!! As stated elsewhere on the site bolt sizes are different in a couple of places - I took all the bolts as well as I removed it!! Had to go back and have the rear beam and mounting brackets as it failed the MOT on corroded mountings.

Yes... :D The link is just for the "Breaking..." ad' posted by a guy who I knew had a good subframe. It's not for the subframe...

Yep, that tends to be how breaking adds work on eBay, it's not a scam or anything.

They list the car for breaking as a cheap item like a wheel nut for £1 or something, just in case some numpty bids or clicks the buy it now. It's a way of avoiding eBay listing fees and final value fees, as it'd cost a small fortune to list up all the various parts when people can just message or call and buy the part outside of eBay. Makes the seller more money! Simples :)
