Hey guys, first post on here!

So a few weeks ago my headlight adjuster went on my 2003 Stilo, having HIDs in I was told the gross whirring noise was actually them on their way out. Replaced them yesterday, and it continuted.. So its down to the motor, my mechanic told me what happens to them, deteriorated pin, doesn't know when to stop, told me I could replace it or just take out the fuse/cut a wire to stop it moving. Being the bodger I am, I'm voting for cutting it off, since the fuse is also the fuse for the whole headlight so can't take that out.

Which brings me.. To asking which wire needs to be cut to stop the motor?

Auto levelling not working on HIDs is an MOT failure, so think before cutting.

It was actually my mechanic that suggested cutting the wire =P

It's the least of my worries when it comes to MOT failure points on this car

Are they retrofitted HIDs or factory ones? I'm not sure if the wiring will be different compared to a standard halogen headlight cluster.

Both adjuster motors are controlled by the ECU mounted on the left headlamp. The wiring diagram doesn't show which wires are for the motors. You could try disconnecting the 6 pin front (K1) and rear (K2) adjuster connector (M73) from the left headlamp. Disconnecting it may, or may not, stop the motors constantly turning.

As already mentioned above, the car would fail an MOT test without working HID headlamp adjusters, and would be illegal to use on the road at any time.

Why not just get a new motor - part # 1J0 941 295A? Easy enough to acquire, reasonable price on EBay, £10+ and not too difficult to fit!

Part number 1J0 941 295A (Fiat number 9948397) is for the normal headlamp adjuster motor. The HID ones (Fiat number 9949449) are different.

Yep thats right. HIDs were an aftermarket kit so with all that wiring out now I'm back to standard halogens. To replace the motor, gonna have to take the bumper off, right? Has anyone any rough idea how many screws need to come off for that? I I went in guessing I'd get too frustrated
