Hi I changed my rear shocks recently as the old ones where shot and since putting on the new ones there is alot of knocking from the top mounts? of the shocks(which are located in the boot) on my Fiat Stilo 1.4, 2004, 5 door model. There is one small difference between the old and new shocks and that is a small metal platform located just under the threads at the top of the strut. It also appears to me that the shocks are only secured in place from the inside of the car there is no support for the strut under the body frame. I have circled the picture below where the metal platform is on the new shocks, and i should probably mention that the replacement shocks where oil shocks rather than gas, what could be causing the knocking any ideas?

If its knocking the it sounds like a bush problem. Are you sure its coming from the struct. Best thing to do is just double check everything including the bushes on the rear end.

Thats my advice anyway but I could be wrong.
