did you try a clean up to see how quickly it came back ?
its a lot to pay if the only issue your noticing is the oil staining,ok if bad idle , low boost and error messages would probably be worth it.
as I mentioned in the other thread its the labour that's going to be worse than parts.
are that garage counting in the costs , a cambelt etc?
also did you think about getting the swirl flaps deleted ? theres little to go wrong once theyre gone.
also think about egr delete, this prevents the mess in the manifold to start with.
here this alfa specialist ad for job on the later plastic manifold.

prices should be similar for yours.
its worth ringing them as they do so many, hence this latest offer. people do travel a fair way to go to them.
even my local specialist struggled (and that was during a cambelt change)all planned in.
if they ask it is jtdm edc16c39 cf4 same as the alfas same maps in ecu.

also found this in a post on alfaforum
"There's a place called The CDTI Surgery that will swap the manifold for a de-flapped one for £150 fitted (including a new manifold).
They mainly work with the Vauxhall variant of the JTDm engine but also do Alfa's and Saab's. "

it isnt just staining there stuck and wont return to there original position which is why the eng light ison dash

i would like to get it removed but at 102k miles i dont really know if its worth bothering

if heard and read that if it gets removed there's less torque and mpg is worse

on a head up got a new front panel everything is finally bolted back to how its supposed to be
