Went the so popular route and done the recommended mods Supersprint+Bmc+remap.

Results:

Measured using Tazzo performance meter.

Before
(one person in car, night-lower temp, full tank)

0-60 mph
1.st run 8.58
2.nd run 8.64
3.rd run 8.67

close to factory figure of 8.5 probably slower cause of 17"s.

After
(two persons in car, day-sunshine hot, full tank)
according to the tech doing the remap i should have waited a day or two for the ecu to relearn all the parameters. Naturally i measured directly out of the service :D

0-60 mph
1.st run 7.97
2.nd run 8.00
3.rd run 8.08

Hmmm, it doesn't seem spectacular imo - 0.6 second better? :chin:

Even mine, without the Supersprint, is running at 7.5 iirc - and that was 2 up, during the day, with a tank full of fuel....

I gotta agree, not much of an improvement there. You sure you have had a remap rather than just a software upgrade/update? i know Vauxhall used to re-program ecu's to smooth out flatspots etc but that was just to update the program in the ecu, not to give a performance hike.

Remember guys that there are many different factors that sway times. We rarely state that you are going to get exactl xyz, we take an average of the testing we do because of this.

No disrespect obviously, but the fuel rating may be slightly different, the temperature and road surface all cause different results. You may find that you put one of the cars we have done into the same situation that the results would have been similar.

As long as the car has improved, the drivability and pleasure factor as gone up too then thats just as important.

Getting a huge difference in 0-60 on a n/a car is not easy. Its not the huge hike that you can get with the JTD for instance. For a car already running at 170bhp, even 20bhp as a % is not going to knock 1.5s off the 0-60. The standard 0-60 is 8.5s for a sillyspurt and dont forget gear change is all important (not criticising your driving either lol!)

Hi guys, lets not forget that the 8.5sec fiat say would be with a professional driving it all day until they get the best time.

Also 17s will make the speedo a lot different, so you might find that when it says 55mph your actually doing 60 or vice versa.. Of course there are many factors to consider including if the modifications have been setup correctly and the ecu of course can use the properly...

Any test result that isnt done on a professional strip like santa pod will always be not what you'd expect.

PMSL!!!! A professional strip like Panta Sod! No, sorry, I know what you mean but I am afraid that you are being a bit dissolusioned there. A calibrated performance meter is likely to be far more acurate. The one we use is accurate to within 0.01%.

The actual 0-60 on performance meters does not use the speedo, its calculated internally, so the figures he is quoting are acurate to 60, not a view of the speedo. There is no way you can time yourself to 60 using the speedo and a stopwatch (or counting 1-million 2- million lol!!)

Lastly, the manufacturers quoted times. These are calculated from dyno figures and are not done by an actual driver - they remove the weak link to provide acurate figures and calculate it and have done so for years. This is true pretty much every mass manufacturer.

Yes i am sure i had a remap.

Agree 100% with everything alfanige said.

Driving experience has improved, i am satisfied and thats what counts for me.
I find this figures to be a very good result since we are talking about 12% bhp gain on N/A car without any serious mods to the engine.

Remap on fiat 2.4 20v engine gets a (y)

12 bhp seems to me kinda low for a 2.4 i asked nige for a remap quote on my 1.6 C4 and he said 12-13 bhp for that. Plus 8 seconds 0-60 seems a little bit low to me. Then again most manufactueres specs are normally high in terms of how quick they are off the mark take the clio 182 its 7.1 seconds 0-60 on the spec sheet and 6.3 in real terms.

Where did you read 12 bhp for the 2.4? It is 12%

Can agree with that I'm sure the real 0-60 time for an abarth is quicker than 8.5secs! :chin:

@insane have you got the whole supersprint system?

I can not find 0.6 sec 0-60 not to be much of an improvement (probably close to 0.8 if tested in same conditions) .

Example
206 2.0 s16 (gti) 136 BHP has 0-60 8.3sec
206 2.0 RC 177 BHP has 0-60 7.4 sec
So 41 bhp difference for "only" 0.9 sec 0-60.

To ben: I am still waiting for the cat-back section so just the back box at the mo.
