Hi!

I need some help!

Early this year, my 2005 Stilo MJet decided to shut off. I was driving on a motorway at normal speed (100kmh/60mph) and everything was fine. Then I got off the motorway and reached a stoplight. When I stopped the car it just turned off. No lights on the dash, no funny noises, nothing! I turned the key and the only thing I heard was the buzzing of the starter motor. Connected my OBDII and no errors were present. I imediately thought it was the timing belt that snapped.
Got it towed to my mechanic which checked for error and for the timing belt. The timing belt was there and looking fine and no errors detected.
The engine didn't had fuel in and was not pulling fuel (but had fuel on the tank) so he managed to start it with ether and left it on idle for one or two hous.
Then he took it out for a test drive and it happened again. It just stopped.
At first he thought it was something wrong with the fuel system so he checked everything, starting from the tank and ending in the engine. Nothing seems to be wrong.
He then sent the car to a colleague who specializes in diesel engines to check compression and to try to find the cause but nothing was found, the car was running normaly.
The car was then returned to my mechanic who used it as its own personal car for one week without any problems. The only thing he noticed is that the car hasn't got the power it should and struggles a little bit to accelerate. When he was getting ready to give it back to me, the same thing happened again!
My Stilo is now back on the diesel specialist but still without a clue of what's going on! My mechanic is sure by now that there is nothing wrong mechanically and thinks it must be some kind of sensor that's not working properly!

It's been almost 3 months without a car! I'm getting desperate

All ideas will be helpfull! At this point we don't know what to do more! (n)

Im not an expert but i did have a weird cutting out issue today that i induced myself by cleaning my map sensor in certain levels of cleanliness the engine just stalls for no reason try thoroughly cleaning the map easy enough to get too

Check the crankshaft position sensor. Could be the cause of your problem. Try a replacement sensor and test it.
