Hello and good day,
im an owner of a 1.6 stilo, and i was wondering if any would would happen to know the price of the 2.4 abarth engine (new), or the price of a used 20V Turbo Coupe engine... i need horsepower, and im not quite sure the 1.6 will be able to give me what i want...
thank you
cheers

GOOD FROM FAR.... but....
FAR FROM GOOD!!!!

Hey barfastic i was wondering the same thing but for 1.6 or 1.8 but when i asked my dealer they said that it would be much better to change the car than only the engine [V] but if somebody knows a reply whould be nice ;)

I'd agree with that. Sell the 1.6 Stilo while it's standard and put the extra money into upgrading properly!

Yep, I agree, changing an engine in a modern car for anything other than a direct replacement can be a pain in the arse. Trade up to the Abarth when you can afford it and you'll save yourself a great big headache. It's what Im gonna do when I've got the dollars!

here in greece the abarth costs almost fouble the price of mine... and i had been saving up money for a good 5 years... of which most the money was collected from the alst two...
second... if i ever decide to get a new car, im probably gonna go fro a rear wheel drive car... (RX-8) which is only 9000 euros mroe than the TOP version of the abarth in greece...

i am going to visit the so called "MAGICIAN" of italian cars here in Greece tomorrow... hopefully he will be able to give me a solution to reach the 180+ Hp im looking for!

Athannasie i would reply in greek but for the sake of the others im not... you can so called CC upgrade... (auksisi Kivismou) and apparently its legal to upgrade your cars engine capacity by 200cc (ATLEAST IN GREECE)

plus i forgot to add... semi-automatic gears are WAY slower than manual, so you could gain atleast an extra second in acceleration! not to mention youd be the Only Abarth with manual gears! ;);)

Not only in acceleration and in terminal velocity too about 3-4 klm

guys bad newS!!!! jsut got back from the guy... apparently nothing ahs come out for the 1.6 or higher stilo! this is due to its ECU... to turbo, kompress or even put camshafts (to work properly) you must buy a new ECU!!! which has mapping capabilities...

now, to buy one, you must first buy the requried components, i.e. Turbo, intercooler, dumpvalve, etc, and then buy the according ecu... a blank ecu costs about 1500Euros, plus all the work.... the sum goes WAY TO HIGH for 50 Hp... so ive decided to not do anything further, and save up my money and buy a different car...
i got really disappointed...

You've obviously never driven a Stilo Abarth, red-lining it through the gears - it changes up automatically as the car approaches maximum revs and the change is extremely quick - faster than you can do manually.

i ahve driven a semi manual/automatic bmw 330... my moms, and i cant say the gear changes are that fast! now i dont know how fast a gear change is ont he abarth, BUT if bmws are slow, then ill be kinda stunned if fiats are faster

According the figures, the BMW and Fiat/Alfa semis are near identical in performance. We are talking only a few milliseconds of difference. In the real world this makes jack all difference when driving. Admittedly, the "Auto" changes are a little clumsy but the manual mode takes a lot of beating.

I think that the problem is that, because you have to do so little when changing gear compared to a manual, the gearchange seems to take a long time. Instead of easing off, pressing the clutch, moving the lever, releasing the clutch and then accelerating you just press a button. This means you are waiting for the gearchange (for less than a second) when in a manual you are actually doing something to fill this time.

In my opinion - and the opinion of all those who have been in my car - the car and the gearchange is quick.
