Hi im new on this forum, exept i have read alot of tips here.

As the title explain, i have the got da***** ASR, loose conection. I have used hours, both online looking for tips, and offcours hours on investigate the car.

What i have done so far:

*have added 21mm extra earth cables from battery (-), to engine, ECU and chassis.
*changed the battery
*taken out the fusebox and open it up and cleaned it with electro cleanser (BTW on the "circuit board", some places, it was some slite moore discolouration, copper insted of "silver").
*Ive cleaned the trottle body
*replaced the ECU as far away from the engine ass possible.
*Have also been inside the ECU and resolded some of the pins that have slided down (here i maby have pushed them further than nessesery, but i cant as an electrician understand that this matters)
*The cranckshaft sensor is brand new

*Finnaly i thoght i found the problem, as the ASR fault was very intense and often, i tried a new adwise, try to disconnect the coils one after another, and guess what, once i disconnected the third from the left, the ASR was gone. once i reconnected it came back, i became so got da******* happy, that i probably did this 30 times to be sure. So then i ordered 4 brand new ones of the brand; BOLK BOL-E021045. Reason i ordered all of them was because they all seemed a little weared out, and the price for 4 bolk was almost the same as 1 new from BOSCH.
While i waited for the new coils, i drove the car maby 30-40 minutes every day without the 3rd coil connected, and didnt have on singel problem with it (for almost a week). So finally i recived the new ones installed them, and diconnected the battery for over an hour. And the day after i drove for a 30 mi'nutes ride with no problems, but, THEN when i was going home again, that fuc*** problem returnes after about 5 minutes.

I HAVENT READ THIS ANYWERE, BUT MY MAIN HUNCH (exept the ECU) IS ON SOME OF THE RELAYS ON THE FUSEBOX ISNT ALL RIGHT, its a kind off "irrirrir" sound from a couple of them when i try to start the car.

Last i want to mention about this **** car is;
*The cruice controll doesent work at all, not even the light CC light is apearing, only think that happens when i push the CC button is that i dimming the cocpit light.
*The cocpit fan works only upwards, not the other two ways.
*And also i dont think the car uses all the horsepower it should have, and it uses a loot of fuel.
Now im sick and tired of this car and try my last cry for help on this forum if annyone have som good advice for me??? I havent tried change the door switch or the brake pedal switch yet, but i begin to think that i wont be using moore unnessesery money on hunches!!

Have you plugged into the car with MES for errors and diagnostics?

The ASR is associated with braking? Could the loose connection just be a wheel ABS sensor faulty?

MES for me indicated which coil was faulty.

There is a reset procedure for the heater

  1. Switch the ignition on.
  2. Press and hold the "AUTO" and "MONO" buttons at the same time.
  3. When the number on the left of the display counts down to "0", release the buttons.
  4. When the noise from the heater stops, switch the ignition off.

Hi.

Thanks for the reply, i have been on a local work shop and he got 3 faults, i dont remember what all of them was, but he was sure it had to dn with the cranck shaft sensor, this have been changed.

But those abs sensors, i guess they are on all the wheels? Is it possible to unplugg and se if it cause problems.

About the coils, it was the 3rd from the leet, buT they are all new now and the problem is even worse now

I have done that also, i have even taken apart the hole fuse box and cleaned it, but i noticed some of the connection lines, had some discolouration (copper insted of "silver"), could that cause so mani problems?

is the abs sensor on rear wheels only? if its also in front i maby thinking the problem is with the cars steering wheel isnt at 12 o`clock when i drive a straight line, you think?

I get ASR and loose conection only when its cold and wet outside and i have not used the car in three four days. If used daily even in cold and wet its fine. I put it down to moisture in the air. I have the 1.2

ok, thanks, but does the wires to the sensors go directly onto the ECU, or is it a plug somwhere in the engine room? maby its a bad connection there?

Each sensor has its own connector. Connectors for the front ones are close to the front suspension mounting points under the bonnet.

I think the rear ones are are at each end under the rear bumper.

Hi,

Im new to the fiat forum just joined up and seeing if I can be of use to anyone.
I had a problem with my ECU overheating a few months ago. Random error messages were occuring particulary when the engine had been on for a while including loose connection, abs error etc.
Were the ECU is factory mounted is a stupid place, right next to the heat of the engine and Iv heard of the heat actually melting the solder causing the problems.I remounted my ECU next to the battery tray with some small bolts drilled into the side of it and a metal tray to support the ECU. I have never had any problems again since and It defiantly sorted the issue. Might be worth a shot to see if it helps any!
