Just having a flick through eBay, and came across these

Has anybody done this, or contemplated this? Are the upgraded bulbs worth it? If the hassle of removing bulbs is such a hassle, then I may as well upgrade them at the same time WHEN they do break.....

They're side lights not headlights! (n) I wouldn't bother TBH mate.
Erm  they are both

Well, I am not going to bother now, just wondered what to do when the inevitable comes - I already know the type I am going to get for the Ulysse, after poggy's recommendation.

A lot of my commute is on dark, country lanes, so any extra light will be useful (y)

Aren't the lights good enough on the Stilo? Stone me, drive a Bravo for a few years and you soon develop night vision like you'd never believe
You might as well have a cigarette lighter out there

Changing to a Stilo brought the realisation that I CAN SEE! I CAN SEE!:)

Ok!

All I am getting at, has anyone changed their bulbs to something that is non-standard.

As for lighting up the road - the Ulysse is amazing, the Stilo imo is slightly lacking...

On dark country lanes I use my foglights as well  No one has flashed me so I presume that they do not dazzle anyone. On the other hand I have been dazzled by other people's badly adjusted headlights lol.

I found that by adjusting the beam height from "0" on the display to "1" or even "2" really helps. Yes, and I know technically it could be a bit more dazzling to other drivers but it certainly helps to illuminate the road.

Only useful IF both the light levellers work ;)

I thought that adjusting the lights level would only make them go down, since you have more weight in the car. I do mine to avoid dazzling other road users, since I'd rather they can see me and not drive into the bright light. Also I find too may road users either are completly unlit (during daytime, but driving into the sun, so from behind they're not visible), or always turn straight to dipped beams...

I upgraded my Punto headlights with some Osram SilverStar, but didn't really use them enough to notice a difference. When I got them they sent H1 by mistake (rather than H7), which the ebay seller let me keep. Anyway, on saturday I fitted these to my wife's 307, but they're full beam only which I haven't needed yet.

If you want to read about the bulb upgrades, www.startledrabbit.com is a good place to look. Although best to use IE rather than Firefox if you don't know what bulbs you need as it wont work for Firefox :(. You can find the bulbs cheaper on ebay, but at least you know what to look for! I think there are a lot of cheap bulbs around that aren't so well designed.

I've got Ring Sportz Blues in my Astra (H4 100/80w) see HERE . They are definately not road legal and I feel for the poor sods that come towards me at night. When driving along with dipped lights on, people think you've got your full beam on and flash you frantically! A flash back with the full beam soon shuts them up though! :p

I don't think I could ever go back to standard bulbs now, they just don't light the road up in comparison. If you do go for uprated wattage bulbs, make sure that the headlight wiring is beefy enough and up to the job because they draw alot of current. Don't be suprised that the wires melt if they are only thin because they don't half get hot!

I've considered xenon bulbs because I too have to drive on country roads at night to get home... I also find the Stilo's lights a bit lacking...
If you do decide to fit them... let me know how they work.

In my stilo i've put leds in the side lights (two in each headlamp) looks amazing!! :D
I've also converted my headlighs to xenon hid system (£360  ) but the lighting is excellent and well worth the money (y) . I had a professional macanic fit the xenon system for £60 pounds, but i installed the four leds myself. I also had to change the dipped beam lights as one was fualty (£85 per bulb  ), but clamed under manufactures warrany, so they sent me two new ones bulbs :D
I also ajusted the dipped beam pattern manually to get the perfect height.

My high beam also change it to xenon blue coated bulbs (rubbish!!!) I HATE THEM!! :bang:

Try to post pictures of leds and hid xenons soon

What's the betting there's a strong relationship between owning a Stilo and using Firefox? (y)

Osram SilverStar would seem to be a good cheap legal option. Anyone actually fitted them and able to give a report?

I uploaded loads of pictures, so you'll can see real lighting performance from hid xenon and not cheap blue tip ones. I also got picture of leds in me stilo. :D

!! Hold your mouse over the image to get description :) !!
